Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Downbeat heaven.......2000-09-26

If you want mosh-pit fillers, walk on by. If you want downbeat melancholia that like a fine bottle of wine improves with age, then 'Swansongs' is your tipple. Hungover, lazy, depressing, but strangely uplifting amongst the debris of it all... a far cry from the swagger of early Adorable, it still oozes with confidence. Bits remind of 'Tender'-era Blur, and 'Bends'-esque Radiohead, and even The Smiths. This is the best album Pete Fijalkowski has ever made.

3 out of 5 stars Disappointing.......2000-05-25

After the blaze of glory that was Adorable in the mid-nineties, frontman Pete Fijalkowski has returned with an uneven batch of new music. Along with his brother Krzys and a new backing band, Polak has created some rather insipid tunes. A few do standout, such as "Storm Coming" and "Shipwrecked", but most of the songs are dragged down by the vanilla music.
Pete's wonderful voice can only do so much, but with music as generally uninspired as this he doesn't have a lot to work with.
