Album Details
Sweet Baby James Taylor set the standard for sincere pop singer/songwriters at the start of the 70's with his first big hit 'Fire & Rain'. Previously on the Beatles' Apple label, he quickly bolted over the Warner Bros. after Apple's first demise. He moved to Columbia Records in the late 70's and has remained there since. This disc is unique in that it marks the first time two major labels shared billing on a collection from a major artist. Taylor's best from both labels are on this CD.
Customer Reviews:
JT meets JT to help heal.......2005-08-21
I got this special JT cd for my sister who is doing chemo for breast cancer. Her initials are JT, too. I hope it gives her some peace because she has it hard for a while. The cd did the trick for a friend's sister who was going through the same situation a while back. Work your magic, JT! :) - Michael
The Best JT Compilation...........2002-09-09
Yes, it doesn't have material from his more recent work (Never Die Young, Hourglass, New Moon Shine, etc.), but this is his best compilation even though it is an import.
It must be great... they had this as a sample disc when they were demoed CD players at the store where I bought my CD player (along with A Decade of Steely Dan). This was one of the 1st CD's I bought when I got my CD player (along with the Steely Dan one and U2's Joshua Tree)
This CD has most of JT's major hits from both labels, Warner & Columbia. Sound is tremendous and it is on a single CD.
Superb!
A Must!.......2000-09-06
this is Without a Doubt the best overall Set on James Taylor.this Set Fully Captures The Singer&Songwritting Talent of this Man.He has Composed some Great Songs over the Years.this is a Very Essential Collection.Very Solid from start to finish.
JT's a bore and that's the truth.......2000-09-04
If this collection represents James Taylor's best, I'd hate to think what the rest of his discography must sound like. It isn't that he writes bad songs - some of them are quite engaging - only that he sings them so monotonously. JT's interminable drone makes him the most sonambulistic singer of all time. I'm amazed his career has lasted this long. I can't imagine where his appeal lies. The quality of his compositions grows progressively worse with the 70s decade. Early songs like "Fire & Rain" were at least original and interesting. By the time he got to "Shower the People", they became candy floss. Yuk !
