The first song, "Shadows", grabbed me immediately, and, with succesive listenings, it's clear the other songs are equally strong.

Another reviewer here compares him to Bruce Cockburn, which i agree with. Springsteen also comes to mind.

This is not alternative music. There are no gimmicks: no synthisizers or drum machines, or weird recording techniques-it's just "meat and potatoes" rock and roll with bluesy overtones, and a lot of heart.

I'm going out on a limb here, but this is possibly the best debut album i've ever heard from a rock artist. And nobody's ever heard of him. Yet.
