Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Steps has done it again.......2002-02-13

Ok, Steps has definately done it again. With the exception of missing UK tracks, they outdid themselves. Personal fav's " Never get over you" and " Learn to love again" really make this album stand out.

In the UK release, fav's are " Turn around" " Paradise lost"
" If you believe" and " You'll be sorry" are awesome tracks and it angers me that people thought the US wouldnt like it. I did!

I think Steps should do a spicegirlesque thing and pursue solo albums without breaking up the band. Then come together to blow our minds away. I think that if the Steps producers would just find out what the public likes, then steps would be a smash in the us. They just need more publicity. I know for a fact that all of my gay friends love steps, although thay hadnt heard of them till I played my cd's. It could be the start of something big.

5 out of 5 stars buzz, not zzzzzzzzzz............2001-12-01

FINALLY.....! my God, i'v waited for soooooooo long to get this album, i still remember that this album was released in UK in October 2000, but here, i can only get it in march 2001! what a nightmare! anyway, i got it and i enjoy it!
"it's the way u make me feel" is on the top of my list from this album, it's the way the song make u feel....so good! "summer of love" is really very "summer" it just invite u to dance to the beat, for a summer party, play this!
generally, this album does give each and everyone of the stepsters to show their talent, no matter it's vocally or in words and rhythms. this album has compiled almost 80% of their hand written rhythms and lyrics and some of them r really standard! at least this is a start for them that will give them a better future and get to share their feelings rather than just delivering the songs!
lisa's "u'll be sorry" is another catchy one, she is pretty and she has a sweet voice, this song is just made for her!

claire, the main vocalist of the steps, does not really that obvious in this album as all of the members r given a chance for a solo track, at least!
"here and now", the third single made it clear that it deserved to be a single release!
"better the devil u know", this song has been heard since steps' first concert tour and finally its recorded in an album, it's really good tune for halloween and may be u might want it for X'mas, too! haha!
obviously, when i got this album, compared to the UK release version, we hav a few bonus tracks, i really prefered the UK's cover which is nice, it so pitty that we don't get alot of the singles releases over here, may be in the future, the album shall includes some ofthe remixes of singles?

5 out of 5 stars From the Hit Factory and beyond!.......2001-07-06

I just received my copy of the album "Buzz" and think that it is one of the most amazing pop albums I have heard in eons! My current favourite track is "You'll Be Sorry", a track that borrows heavily from the Tina Cousins formula (Tina was also produced by the crew at the legendary PWL Studios). "Stomp", the first official single from this album, is credited as a tribute to Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards, the founding members of Chic (listen closely and you can hear the string riff from Chic's "Everybody Dance"). Pure brilliance! The first track from this album, "Better The Devil You Know", began its life as one of Kylie Minogue's pop standards and is taken to the next level here. It still sounds fresh even though it was included as the B-side to "Say You'll Be Mine" from Steps' previous ablum, "Steptacular". The second track off of this album is the latin inflected "Summer Of Love" (a B-side from "When I Said Goodbye" from "Steptacular"), complete with the over-the-top production one has come to associate with Pete Waterman and his crew. Cheiron Studios takes a stab at altering the Steppers' sound a bit by putting their trademark sound on a track or two (via the production or Andreas Carlsson's writing). Cyndi Lauper contributes a song on this album, co-written with Jan Pulsford and Steps' own Faye Tozer. The result is a hauntingly beautiful song called "If You Believe". Classic pop balladry at its finest!

Steps have gradually made a shift away from the ABBA-esque sound that was so prominent on their last last two efforts. Their sound is more mature on this go around and it excites me to think what this fivesome will be capable of if they should continue recording over the next few years. FOLKS... PLEASE dispense of your pre-conceived notion of the pure pop sound. It does NOT belong to the likes of Britney, BSB or the other pop groups.

This is an awesome album from start to finish. Missing from this version, but included on the Japanese Edition is a song called "Human Touch"- another track that sports the Tina Cousins sound. Still- don't miss this!!! Hopefully the folks at Jive USA will keep this album in tact unlike their last US release... if not- snap this one up as quick as you can... It really doesn't get much better than this!

(Also check out the DEUCE album "On The Loose" (Polydor import)- a Steps prototype group produced by PWL Alumni Hammond and Curnow!!!)

5 out of 5 stars The Best Steps Album So Far..........2001-05-03

The third Steps album is incredibly refreshing and opens with a cover of the Kylie classic 'Better The Devil You Know'. The singles so far include the Flashdance-esque 'Summer Of Love', disco stormer 'Stomp', 'It's The Way You Make Me Feel' and the new double A-side 'You'll Be Sorry / Here And Now'. These tracks are probably the strongest here although 'Never Get Over You', 'If You Believe' and 'Paradise Lost' are all superb examples of classic pop. There are a few tracks which are not so good, in particular the Sonique 'It Feels So Good' rip off 'Learn To Love Again' which is definately worth skipping and the watery title track 'Buzz'. Apart from that a fine album, and there's more new tracks to come on the forthcoming 'Greatest Hits' album.
