5 out of 5 stars come in from the cold...........2004-05-29

i love minibar. i love this cd. i love everything about it.
i owned the debut Road Movies and loved every single note played and sung on it, when i got Fly Below The Radar, i was surprised to hear how far they've come since then. It Is What It Is makes a great opener, with a beautiful climax to the end, followed by what is in my eyes the gem of the record, Unstoppable (a track also featured on Greatest Hits Vol. I by Trampoline Records, the label of Pete Yorn, Rami Jaffee (Wallflowers) and Marc Dauer), a slow, bittersweet waltz, with beautiful harmonies. For me, the highlights of the record are Unstoppable, Breathe Easy (this song will lighten up your mood, no matter what), the title trach Fly Below The Radar and Fragile, which happen to be the songs that were produced by Rami Jaffee and Greg Richling of the Wallflowers.
Pete Yorn called Minibar one of his favourite bands and Jakob Dylan highly recommends Fly Below The Radar, too.
go and get it.

5 out of 5 stars Great CD,.......2003-12-02

Fly Below the Radar is a great folow up to Road Movies, I like road movies, but its a little to poppy for me. It is What it is, is a perfect opener for the CD, the bonus disk is also great, Tim rocks on New Mexico.
If you like their cds you will love them live, the rock, and are the greatest guys ever. Mal (their drummer) is one of the kindest people i have ever met.

3 out of 5 stars Maybe a little over-hyped.......2003-08-19

I decided to sell this CD back to the store I bought it from...not because it's bad (it's not). It just didn't do it for me and I was prepared to like them. 'It Is What It Is' is undeniably a good, catchy song and it is heads above anything else on this CD.

The singer possesses a velvety smooth voice, but one that is lacking any edge whatsoever. After a while, it's hard to care about what he is saying. The production is a little too "mid range" for my tastes as well (or maybe it's my stereo). The sound is a little muddled.

The music is sort of orchestrated alternative/roots rock with a pronounced Britpop sheen about it, although not nearly as accomplished as the like-minded Grand Drive.

At any rate, I give this 3 stars. Just because I didn't like it doesn't mean it's not any good. There's just not enough twang for me. It's definitely more rock than roots.

5 out of 5 stars Radar Love.......2003-06-11

Flying below the radar they have but not for long. A
British quartet of truly fine musicians who have a
unique sound that sets them apart and above many a
pop/alternative/rock/country band out there. Their latest contribution (Fly Below The Radar)to music is a must have for seekers of great music you can play over and over again. Buy this. Highly recommended!
