Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Nice trip but no guide!!.......2004-07-22

Yes,this eclectic collection songs from the early 60s is indeed a nostalgic trip.It features many songs that are quite hard to come by on their own or in any other compilations.A prime example is Toni Fishers' "The Big Hurt",her voice seemingly a cross between Timi Yuro and Kay Starr.A wonderful song.
All tracks where possible are in their original two channel stereo format and sound very clean and crisp.
But for a nice trip like this one should expect a good guide but alas there isn't one.You see the front insert contains........well,nothing.There are no liner notes,no recording/release dates,no acknowledements of the sources for their release.....absolutely nothing.VERY disappointing.I do note that this CD was released in /91 so that may be a factor.I do know that the "Collectibles" label has released many a fine package in just about every genre of music with wonderful and sometimes copious liner notes in recent years. They have obviously improved over time and serve a special and much needed niche out there that the major labels unfortunately do not.
Even though I couldn't give this a 5 star rating it is still well worth getting and should be a welcome addition to everyone who loves the music of the 60s.
