5 out of 5 stars A RARE MASTERPIECE.......2001-08-01

This album is so refreshing. I was hooked just by the demo tape. (my personal favorite is "Surreal".)I initially went to see another band and SWIMMER was the special guest. After they performed, I didn't even care for the others-The music is breathtaking and the band's live performances were even better. They all had their special auras and worked magically together. Anday (lead singer) is a gift. It was painfully disappointing when they disbanded, which makes this album even more of a rare gem-having all these fine musicians together, but I'm very, very glad (to say the least) that there is DREW..Anday's newly formed band. I saw them perform not too long ago and his voice is even BETTER! Swimmer was PERFECT-on the album and in concert, and if you loved them, then DREW will make you perk up as well-even more so.

5 out of 5 stars SWIMMER's album Surreal is fantastic.......2000-10-24

How did I miss this record coming out last year? Unbelievably good songs, lyrics etc. And Anday McaCarron's voice is amazing. Where is Swimmer now? I would like to see them live. Someone told me Anday M. is now called "Drew" and that he played at the CMJ festival in New York recently. Anyone know if this is true? Also I read the last two reviews posted here prior to me writing this one and all I have to say is -- are you guys nuts or deaf?

A true fan.

1 out of 5 stars surreal trash.......2000-04-19

this has got to be one of the WORST albums i have ever bought in my entire life...annoying...at times unbearable to listen to...the lead singer's voice is completely irritating...i thought i heard diferrent when i gave it a spin at best buy, but after bringing it home...i was saddened with the overall album...my friends have advised me to toss it, but I always keep albums around just in case.

4 out of 5 stars better than most bands, but annoying.......2000-01-15

A brilliant debut, this cd is good for a while, but then it gets old and irritating, like a fingernail on a monkey eyeball. Anday's voice is spectacular for the first few listens, then it kisses you goodbye as it flies off into a blissful netherworld where neither rakes fly nor the plastic helmets fail to crack, exposing the delicate underbelly.
