Album Description

Perth's Gyroscope have just returned from LA after recording their sophomore album 'Are You Involved?' with legendary Producer - Mark Trombino (who has worked with Jimmy Eat World on 'Bleed American' & 'Clarity', The Living End's 'Modern Artillery', Blink 182's 'Dude Ranch'...to name but a few! Features the first single 'Fast Girl'. 'A triumphant shift into affable territory.. the Central Coast boys have managed to pour their collective heart into an album that could easily become one of the biggest hits of the year... Their songwriting and the vocals of Ben Windsor remain nationally representative in such a beautiful way that each song grows on you ten-fold with every listen.. In fact, there's almost no reason to run that stupid fu**ed up reality TV show to find a new singer for INXS, this band have the potential to leave a similar mark on this country's music scene..' Blunt, Issue 42

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars are you involved? i surely am!!!.......2005-10-08

As a 15 year old I walked into 78 records and bought a little ep called Take Time by an unheard of band called Gyroscope. Three years on, and through releases such as Midnight Express and their first lp Sound Shattering Sound, they have reached a pinacle in their latest record Are You Involved?. The talent in the lyrics and their expression through music have let us listen into how well they have matured as musicians and evolved so much in just a few years. Immeidate attention arises in the listener though catchy songs such as "Fast Girl", "Missed the Point", "Beware Wolf" and "Don't Look Now But I think I'm Sweating Blood"- of which all will satisfy the original devotees. Are You Involved? also carries the added depth of songs like "Sexxxy" and "Don't Let The Light In" - of which will introduce a new era of fans to listen to all that is Gyroscope. The clear standouts for me without doubt are "22 of 3", "A Slow Dance" and the brilliant soundings of "Mistakes and Ladders." Superior vocals, brilliant riffs, killer bass and outstanding drumming provide the band with what they should see as being a very satisfying release. If this is an indication of things to come, the boys from Beechboro are forever going to be gaining more of my respect and admiration.

4 out of 5 stars Don't Look Now But I Think They're Back Again (and even better!).......2005-10-07

A year and a bit on from their first full length, the lads from Gyro are back for another aural assault, and damn do they know a thing or two about songwriting?!

Don't expect Sound Shattering Sound part II. The album is toned down a few notches overall, but still contains many remnants of the sound the fans have come to love. Everything from hard and fast to arse-shaking rock and everything in between, there's something for all, and it's bound to score them a larger army of fans.

An awesomely crafted, beautifully produced and wonderfully well written album, this most definitely is. Gyroscope aren't exactly breaking any boundaries, but their push to remain creative and sound fresh is a cause to be commended. Get it now!

5 out of 5 stars It's from Perth of course it good.......2005-10-05

Are You Involved? is the follow up to the debut album Sound Shattering Sound from Peth based Band Gyroscope. However it is impossible to compare these two albums as the tunes of the Cds are completely different. (like Apples and Oranges really). People buying Are You Involved? would most likely of already heard the single "Fast Girl" this awesome song is a benchmark which the entire album lives up to, to me the record is consistent with no dull songs. Other songs such as "Don't look now but I think I'm Sweating Blood" and "Raindrops" are great songs which have crept under the radar. To be honest I feel that Are You Involved? is in many ways better because all the songs are catchy and define the new era of Australian Rock. A must for any Gyro fan and any one who are fans of bands such as After the Fall.

5 out of 5 stars Gyroscope who? Oh Gyroscope Gyroscope.........2005-10-05

There's no denying Gyroscope haven't caught your attention. "What was that song?" "Who sings that?" I'm pretty sure the answer you're looking for is Gyroscope. And if it wasn't, it is now. Are you involved? is a step up for Gyroscope. (I'm guessing they stepped up into the plane when they flew off to the States to record the album) I have to admit I was a little bit sceptic on how Are you Involved? was going to turn out, after Sound Shattering Sound was already pretty high up the ladder. But after "Don't look now But I think I'm sweating blood" hit my ears, all fear and doubt had left my mind. Are you involved? Is a brilliant album. Why is the album brilliant you ask? Don't ask that. Just shut up and listen and come out of the cold.
