Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Didn't like it at first, but..........2006-01-07

... it grew on me. I like this CD a lot now.

The performances are quirky, in an inspired blend of sounds from the Johnny Burnette Rock 'n' Roll Trio, pre-RCA Elvis, pre-Decca Bill Haley, and vintage British glam from the 70s. It works in the strangest way. Covered on this disc are Slade's "Mama Weer All Crazee Now" and the T.Rex classic "20th Century Boy": these are tunes you would never expect to work in a rockabilly context, but they do. I now almost prefer them to their original versions.

The sound quality varies, a bit on the dull side sometimes, but it is in keeping with the spirit of 50s recordings from the Sun studios. The energy and precision in the performances is awe-inspiring, and that comes through despite the minor variation in fidelity from track to track.

Even if you don't like this the first time, keep it around for a while and listen again. You may find it becoming your favorite CD.

5 out of 5 stars Are you ready...to rock?.......2005-07-13

Another british rockabilly supergroup. The members in this group are from several already legendary rockabilly and swing bands. Mike Sanchez -piano and vocal (ex.Big Town Playboys), Anders Janes (double bass) played with The Space Cadets, The Senti-Mentals, The Stargazers, Ricky Lee Brawn (drums) played with The Space Cadets, Killer Brew, The Stargazers, Al Nicholls (sax) with Ray Gelato Giants...
On album are twenty songs but only four of them are originals (Lady Of Nagoya, Jump Al Jump, Groovey Geezer and Out Tonight). But songs sound fresh. You can believe me that it was long time ago when I became sick of songs like Long Tall Sally, New Orleans,...but even these covers are great.
Intresting are also covers of T.Rex' 20th Century Boy (featured in a movie Truman Show), Slade's Mama Weer All Crazee Now, Mud's Tiger Feet and Roy Wood's Are you ready to Rock?.
If you like Bill Haley & His Comets, Space Cadets or The Stargazers you're gonna adore it.
