Album Description

Review from Roar E-Zine Ghoul "Maniaxe" CD Razorback Records 2003 <P>"..Welcome ladies and germs, step right in to see today's feature film "Maniaxe", for only a small amount of your hard earned cash, we will grant you permission to enter and gather around the centre stage to see this once in a lifetime horror fest. Ghoul, the once hooded trio now a quartet, dug up the tastiest of maggot filled material they could find at the cemeteries of Creepsylvania to offer you an experience that will haunt your dreams for the end of eternity. Chopped off hands and feet, punctured eyes and ruptured spleens, this and so much more will be yours for only a little bit of cash.. step right in ladies and germs and experience a ride you will never forget!" <P>"We Came for the Dead" released last year saw the birth of "Ghoul" on Razorback Records, by far one of my favourite trash bands, combining a heavy dose of humour with horrific riffing, fast blast drumming and succulent screaming to create a high quality album that never failed to impress and entertain. Now they are back with their second offering "Maniaxe", once again bringing to the ring a healthy sense of metal humour, the same furious style of song writing and their high quality sound. <P>The album works much like a story, especially the lyrics give you a feeling that you're reading and hearing the adventures of four maniacs on their hunt to scare the living daylights out of unsuspecting bystanders and their bloody battles with the so-called "Ghoul Hunter", the song baring that name also being the absolute highlight of the album. The sound is much like their debut, but more clean, every instrument is equally heard in the final mix and create a tight monster of a sound that easily beats many of the greater trash bands out there today. The songwriting is excellent, featuring enough solo's and funky drumbeats to make every song stand out and the vocals have just enough variation to stay interesting throughout the album. All in all this is certainly an album that should be in your collection, because it's a high quality trashing speed fest, but most of all, it's incredibly entertaining.. <P>"..I hope you enjoyed today's feature ladies and germs because now the hooded menace known as "Ghoul" will retreat to their castle and spend their time listening to Anthrax and Megadeth while creating more devious plans to scare this little town.. beware faithful viewers, for one night you yourself may fall victim to the trashing violence of these Creepsylvania creepers!" 4/5

5 out of 5 stars GHOUL!!!!.......2006-03-01

Old school based grindcore/death metal that rules! The band that comes from creepsylvania and is highly influenced by anthrax and megadeth,if you enjoy bands like carcass and early napalm death i highly reccomend this cd.Highlight songs on this cd are: sewer chewer, ghoul hunter(which if u listen to real close it describes alot about "creepsylvania"),numbskull, and what a wonderful world is an alright song that is sorta catchy and funny in the same way.But this whole cd is killer,i cant wait for their newest cd "splatterthrash" to come out(which is supposed to come out on 6/6/06)So yeah, stop reading this review and buy this cd!!
