Hey Cory!!!!.......2004-03-02
You really need to listen to this CD of Chuck's. He does a rendition of "Never Been To Spain" that makes your original sound bland and boring, plus a few other old dog tunes and guess what? his voice is just as great as it was 25 years ago!
This CD is fantastic as Chuck not only does NEW songs instead of totally relying on the old Dog stuff, but the new songs are very personal and heart felt and the emotion put into them is only the Chuck Negron could do it.
The few old dog tunes that he DOES do, is redone in a new modern sound that only He could pull off (except he might have gone overboard a bit on Joy To The World).
For the life of me I cannot fathom why Cory continues to drag on singing the old stuff with a washed up Danny Hutton, trying to sing songs that Chuck originally did and not coming close to the power or intensity that Chuck Negron brings to a song.
Keep going Chuck, your voice is strong, your selection of new songs is refreshing, and Cory needs you more than you need him.
As far as I am concerned Chuck Negron once again proves that he IS Three Dog Night and Cory and especially Hutton were his background singers.
From The Heart.......2003-04-15
Chuck uses a style that's not my favorite but I totally love his CD bcause it truly comes from within him and paints his painful struggle. Three Dog Night did not write its own lyrics. A number of these however are written by Chuck. If you like Steeley Dan you'll probably like this style. The artistic quality of this album is way up there--Chuck is amazing to the point that this album can be appreciated by those who don't like the style. This CD is especially powerful if you first read, "Three Dog Nightmare" about Chuck's struggle.
Still has it!.......2001-07-27
WOW! I hope I can still sing like that when I'm 58! Chuck Negron still has it when he delivers a song. Did I like every song on the CD?...no, but I rarely do on anyone's production. I'm not bothered by the voices of his children speaking before and after some of the cuts. Chuck has a message to tell and he wants to tell it. It sure was a long road back, but he arrived and he sounds great! Good for him! This CD makes me want to hear more of the new Chuck Negron!
Spoiled By "Am I Still in Your Heart".......2000-12-08
This CD is merely OK - I agree with a previous critic on there having too much drug "I kicked the habit" stuff. This CD is a shadow of Am I Still.. - that was a CD of astounding quality and vibrance. The "soul-to-soul" there was dynamic, here it was not as well put together. Chuck needs to get some new creative stuff out - I'll always appreciate his power but this was a "mulligan".
