Customer Reviews:
Not The Best Mixture.......2005-07-25
I love Robert Palmer when he's rocking away on song's like "Simply Irrasistable", "Addicted To Love" & "Bad Case Of Loving You" and I even found a couple of new gems on this one I hadnt heard before like, "TV Dinners" but the overall mixture hasnt been thought out very well for this compilation.
It just doesnt goe right when your hearing a hard rockin' song. Then it goes into a slow balled with the synthasizer's and all, then a pop song, then rock, then jazz, then caberat. The mixture should have stuck all the songs into there catagory and grouped them up into there own areas instead of badly intergrading them one after the other out of place.
Also, for a greatest hit's, I was disapointed a few song's wernt included like, "your mother should have told you", "light years" & "cant get enough of a good thing".
I dont enjoy pop ballads and 80's style techno, so a few of the song's on this album I had not heard before I just couldnt bare to listen to.
Robert Palmer did his best song's when he had real music to his songs that wernt conceived through effects and mixing sounds and electronic beats and gadjets etc... which is proven on the last track, "TV Dinners".
Overall, I give the rock songs and blues song's a perfect 4 stars. But the dance, technoy, poppy stuff I dont expect to grow on me soon.
Robert Palmer is definitly a great musician in all fields and will be sadly missed. This album represents hit chart hit's but isnt mixed very well. For those who love the contempery, 80's groove, pop, techno, slow songs, ballads Robert did then this album is probably or you. But for those like me who liked a kick-arse drum beat, rockin guitars and screaming solos then this compilation is a big disapointment.
Very good Collection.......2004-09-24
