Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Great album, but also flawed. .......2005-08-11

I have not had the privelage to hear Havergal's first album "Lungs for the Race," because i have yet to find it anywhere in stores. I just happened to find elettricita at a used cd shop downtown. This album has interesting lyrics, good melodies, and vocals that are very raw and beautiful in a damaged sort of way. Havergal's lead singer does not have the best voice for singing, but despite that his vocals are achingly beautiful. This is a great buy, but it has its flaws as well. Mostly, that it gets a little repetitive, and if your not in the mood for it, it can seem kind of tedious. But it is a very listenable record nevertheless. Highly recomended.

5 out of 5 stars A stunningly beautiful album........2004-05-21

Havergal's first full-length effort, 'Lungs for the Race,' is a fantastic album, full of personal story-telling and very real emotions. 'Elettricita,' however, is far better. Havergal's vocals are stronger and more fully-realized than ever before, and his compositional skill is at an all-time, heart-wrenching high. The album's stunning opener, "Drowned Man," is so powerful, it may be bring a tear to your eye. But the electricity doesn't stop there. Havergal's ambition is clearly evident on tracks like "Burn Up the Bay," among others, and he succeeds beautifully in expanding his sound.
Highest recommendation.

5 out of 5 stars Post-Genre Masterpiece!!!.......2004-05-07

There are lots reasons I like this record. It's great listening to the way Havergal uses simple singular notes to create intricate and dynamic songs. Havergal thoroughly embraces a modern aesthetic, deftly weaving together digital and organic components to create the body of Electtricita. This would be enough to seduce any fan of modern pop music, however, the vocals are what keep me listening, ultimately creating the spirit of Elettricita. The melodies are simple but memorable, occasionally melancholy and always boldly emotive and sincere. Each of these melodies is delivered with the singer's utterly unique voice expressing frustrations, tongue-in-cheek macabre, and even joy. The lyrics seem like puzzle pieces of timeless narratives; effectively inviting while remaining abstract enough to keep you guessing.

By describing individual components of this record, I don't think I'm doing it justice. Yes, the music, the vocals, and the lyrics are all excellent, but there's something more to this record. It seems to have been born of necessity, inspired by inner conflicts and an unwillingness to settle. All of this has produced a record with a life of its own, a stunning masterpiece much greater than the sum of its parts.

5 out of 5 stars a brilliant crafted album.......2004-05-05

This album is long looking for by accident. Everything is perfectly compose from cover to music inside. It is grown deep inside me as i listen to it. A melancholy note and lyric create the ambient space for myself thinking of old memory.
