Customer Reviews:
Fascinating instrumental album........2006-06-30
Labo -M- is a mix of previously unreleased studio material from French rock/pop star Mathieu Chedid, known by his stage name of 'M' or '-M-'. This album isn't an album of 'songs' - there're probably only a few seconds of 'singing' on this album, total. The 11 tracks are comprised of unreleased studio takes and experiments in mixing/jamming, usually with -M- playing electric guitar over a drums/ rhythm guitar/electronics background.
A lot of these tracks are pretty cool; they vary from funky rock jams (Stan est Stone) to mediterrannean-esque (les Saules) to just strange (Au Kazoo). This isn't an album for people looking for typical American pop material, but it is a neat work and definitely fun to listen to if you enjoy creative, mood-setting music.
