Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars They were good on vinyl, but much better live!.......2004-10-29

All of Canned Heat's stuff is great. But the reason I'm writing this , is, I wanted to know if there is anybody out there that saw Canned Heat Live At Bull Island Rock Festival (near New Harmony, Indiana). I have seen many live acts, but I have never seen a group relate to the audience like they did at this festival. We were standing right next to the stage, and I swear these guys were having a blast. They were still riding the high from Woodstock, 2 years earlier, but I swear there was something going on magical with these guys. Sorry I didn't review the cd, but I just wanted to share some positive Canned Heat history with you.

5 out of 5 stars canned heat.......2004-03-19

if you are truely interested in Canned Heat,
try going to the bands own web site for info.

3 out of 5 stars A Nice Sampler, But. . ........2003-02-03

Although this is a nice enough sampler it has now been overshadowed by the two-disc "Uncanned." I suspect that this is still in print because of its price. This is the CD version of the original LP that came out circa 1970. Caution--This set contains the abbreviated version of "On The Road Again" that was released as a single in 1968.

4 out of 5 stars Nice Sampler.......2002-11-15

I was never a fan of Canned Heat and all I remembered of their music was what I heard on AM radio back in the late '60's. That amounted primarily to "On The Road Again" and "Going Up The Country". The recent resurrection of "Going Up The Country" in a TV commercial reminded me of how much I liked that song, so when I ran across COOKBOOK (and at an attractive price, too), I bought it. I'm glad I did. Again I was never a fan, but this is a nice reprise of Canned Heat's work and well worth owning. It includes their best-known hits plus several other nice country-blues tunes.

Classic rock fans who are only casually acquainted with Canned Heat's music will find COOKBOOK a good collection to have. It's definitely worth the price. Go for it.

5 out of 5 stars Absoutely the best..........2002-07-19

Great Canned Heat set for beginners. Contains all of their most popular songs including "Going Up The Country", "Let's Work Together" and "On The Road Again"... plus the standout closer to the original album "Fried Hockey Boogie".

As one reviewer has noted, once you got a taste of this collection, you'll want to search out other Canned Heat albums (note: none of the originals are on CD!!) including the massive 2-cd collection Uncanned.

If you like boogie, blues, and rock all meshed together, then get it!
