Customer Reviews:
New sound, new songs.......2004-03-24
From Colin James first cd in 1988 (Colin James) to this cd Traveler, you can say one thing: Colin has gain a lot of maturity. His songs have grow up with him. Once again Colin is being amazing with his voice and guitar. As this cd is different than his previous product, not as blues and swinging as it used to, I think most fan will be happy to make the transition to this cd.
For new fan who are looking for something really swinging, maybe the first cds of Colin would be more appropriate for you :)
Can He get any better?.......2004-01-16
I have been a fan of Colin James'for about a year now. I found it hard to believe that he could come close to his previous success. Boy, was I wrong! Admittedly, it took a couple of listens to, to really appreciate this CD,but now I can't get through a day without hearing it.
My personal favorite is "Can't do no wrong". However, all songs are good to knockout.
What I would like to know is, Why isn't He getting any airplay in the US? Please listen to his music, and give this guy who has so much talent a chance.
Another great album from Colin.......2003-12-06
I've been a Colin James fan for a long time. I was really excited when this album came out. Known for exploring various styles and not sticking to the traditional blues sound Colin James latest release is more pop/soul then blues at all. A few tunes have a blues feel to it however overall it is leaning strongly to the pop side. Two remakes appear on the album. John Lennon's "Losing You" & Hendrix's tune Rainy Day are definite highlights.Other then the two songs already mentioned personal favourites are "Can't do not wrong" & "Skydiving" which will soon be on the radio as it is a definite radio friendly song. If you are a fan add it to your collection. If you are looking for some blues I'd pass on this and check out Colin's National Steel album which is simply amazing as well as Bad Habits as they both display his vocals and guitar talents. If you have already bought this Cd and want more of what you are hearing check out Fuse as it is similar in style however has more funk and soul with a mixture of blues.
HASN'T LEFT MY CD PLAYER IN OVER A MONTH!.......2003-11-13
I have been a Colin James fan since day one... from way back when "Why'd You Lie?" hit the airwaves. I wish TRAVELER would get more airtime here in the States. I haven't heard much about it here. I wish Amazon.com in the States would offer it too. This CD is awesome! I love every song on it... even Black Eyed Dog, which had to grow on me a bit. My six year old daughter is already singing many of the songs because we have it on every time we are in the car! "Skydiving" is her favorite song! Traveler hasn't been out of the CD player since I received the CD on September 12th. COLIN: Please come to the Seattle area to perform again. Last time we saw you here was in '99... on the Pier opening for Vonda Shepard, but we really came to see you! I got your guitar pick and you signed it. Thank you!!!!
THIS RELEASE IS AWESOME AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!.......2003-09-13
I love the cover of Lennon's "I'm Losing You"... very powerful and easy to get into! The Hendrix tune, "Rainy Day, Dream Away" is an awesome rendition of Hendrix style guitarism... Colin really shows off his talent here! Colin's an accomplished writer and he reflects it well with "Know How To Love You", a really nice ballad. It's easy to listen to and easy to feel! The music that he Co-wrote on this CD is great stuff! I've always liked the sound of Colin's voice as it compliments his guitar style. I especially like "Skydiving", and "I Know What Love Is". He gets down and rocks a bit with "She Can't Do No Wrong" and gets kindof funky on "Anywhere Is Home"... I just Love this CD!
