5 out of 5 stars cotton candy high.......2005-04-08

Catherine, what an awesome band. You need to check out this album RIGHT NOW. I got into Catherine around 1997, when I found out that D'arcy's (of Smashing Pumpkins) husband, Kerry Brown was in the band. I was really interested in hearing this band, and luckily I came across Hot Saki in the CD store and the rest is history.

Hot Saki opens with "Whisper" which was apparently used for the Scream soundtrack (I think)which I imagine was the first "mainstream" look at Catherine, considering they were on a compilation album for a well known film.

Standout tracks include "Four Leaf Clover" (a boy-girl type song w/D'arcy), "Blacklight" and "Punch Me Out" (also with D'arcy) But my favorite songs have to be the last two, "Pink Floyd Poster" and "Good Luck Charm".

Both songs deal with loss, and actually got me through my teen years.. "Pink Floyd Poster" has such truthful lyrics about a failed romance, "I forgot how to smile/I forgot how to care/I forgot how to feel anything that's real/I forgot how to say I love you" And "Good Luck Charm" with lyrics like "forever is not so very far/when you're pushing the time/I'll give you/everything I can/and I'll give you more"

One of the last remaining Catherine pages is here http://pages.prodigy.net/heutchy/catherin.htm it hasn't been updated since 1997 but does have a lot of photos and info on the band.

I recommend this album to anyone. Definitely check it out.

4 out of 5 stars A Pop Masterpiece.......2004-11-25

Love this CD! It is chock full of catchy melodies and trippy lyrics. You will hear these songs in your head for days! Much better than their other CD. For $2.50 (postage included), it's a bargain.

5 out of 5 stars Catherine is an excellent band........2004-11-22

This CD is awesome. There's just something about the music that draws you in and keeps your attention. Very few record stores I've visited have heard of this band, or they don't carry this album. (I had to order my copy.) It's really a shame that this band isn't so popular, because they're awesome.
