4 out of 5 stars You can't go wrong w/ drive-thru and allister.......2005-01-12

After having "Last stop suburbia" for a couple months and being pretty into it, I decided to pick up "dead ends and girlfriends". At first listen, I noticed that the songs were kinda short, and that two of the original members hadn't been on "last stop suburbia". At times, it seemed almost like a different band. All the members sing, and each has atleast one song where their vocals dominate. I guess that can be considered a good thing, except for the fact that if you're not familar with the band, you sometimes forget you're listening to a full-length rather than a compilation. all in all though, this is a good, melodic piece of pop-punk work, with an early blink 182 ( dude ranch) feel. I'd also recommend getting last stop suburbia, cuz its just as good...

3 out of 5 stars Dead Ends is a one way street.......2004-09-13

Before I begin my review, a quick question: Can anyone honestly tell the difference between tracks 1 & 2? I sure can't. They both have essentially the same beat and attitude and tune. But people have been saying that about punk rock since the beginning, so I guess I shouldn't be complaining about that. The only problem is that for the entire album, every song is almost indistinguishable from the one before it and the one after it. It almost seems like a half-hour long song. It's not a bad song, but it makes you wish for a little variety. As it is, it's just the same over and over - a NOFX-lite beat with simple, non-threatening emo lyrics. It's not original, but it's alright. Just ignore the Backstreet Boys cover at the end. Punkifying BSB might seem like a funny idea, but this cover owes more to the original than it does to parody. Not a good sign...

5 out of 5 stars Surprising & Fun.......2003-02-10

So there I am, at the cd store, debating on whether or not I should buy this cd. So then i'm like, "Screw it." and buy it. And I'm glad not be disappointed, cause I usually am. This cd is one of those great fun cds you have a blast listening to whether your driving or in your room or at a party (Screw it, i'd rather play it at the party)
The best songs on here are, "Jacob, Miz, Moon Lake Village, Friday Night, & Pictures." The lowest point in this cd (Not counting the weird "Love Song") is probably their backstreet boys cover. It's weird and it does sound like the real thing, their voices and stuff. But overall, great fun cd if your into pop-punk, this is what i'm talkin about, this aint any boring disapointing pop punk cd, it's very catchy and good, yep.

4 out of 5 stars Great.......2002-07-08

A good cd with a few cover songs, like "I want it that way". This cd is a little bit harder Pop-Punk, than what Drive-Thru records seems to be. I gave it 4 stars because the songs get old after a while. But if you like Allister you should get it, [...]
