Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars good party cd!.......2000-01-15

some girlfriends & me bought the other disc here and it was great for our retro/beach bachelorette party! the songs were fun!

4 out of 5 stars Martians In My CD Player.......2000-01-13

Ahoy sum it up to 4 FAT tracks on this album - 'Hot Doggin', 'Straight 8', 'Martian Stomp', and 'Best Little Girl'. I'b be nice to hear them ROCK harder but I like the fact that they don't do everything LO-FI like garage bands from the same scene. I caught them at Fuzz Fest - RIPPED IT UP - especially cool when they played the album cut 'Straight 8'. This is a great first outing for these boys and I play it alot. Great melodies on the instrumental songs - the vocals are great too (they could stand to rock just a tad harder though).

4 out of 5 stars Boss Martians First CD.......2000-01-13

I got this one in 96 when I was a jr at high school, I like HOT DOGGIN and Best Little Girl the best. Its like way different than theyre other albums though - other albums have some more gimmick and are louder - this is a cool first album though I want to get the guitar sound from "Hot Doggin" for my own band sometime!

3 out of 5 stars "Nice"--but questionable choice of songs.......1999-12-15

It's a strange quirk of many modern bands that they'll release singles that do NOT appear on their albums. So it was that when The Boss Martians got around to doing their first full-lengther, some 9 songs had come out previously-- NONE of which appear here, and most of which would have helped the overall quality of the disc. So while I love this band, this is my LEAST favorite of all their records to date. It's not a complete loss, though; highlights for me are "You Better Run, Girl!", "Hey Tina!" and "Best Little Girl". They also do a version of "Batman" (but where's the middle of the song?). Well, they got better-- "THE JETAWAY SOUNDS OF THE BOSS MARTIANS", "13 EVIL TALES" and "INVASION OF THE LIVE BOSS MARTIANS" are all major improvements over this one (even if 2 of them are tougher to find).
