Album Description
This is the first ever collection of this very talented singer, songwriter, producer, arranger. From his first sides with the John Barry produced Band Of Angels, through a sample of his Manfred Mann recordings & onto his solo singles plus debut album in 1970. The emphasis is very much on D'Abos own songs & there is a fascinating progression of songwriting styles reflecting the times that this compilation covers. The compilation ends with D'Abo's version of his own hit composition 'Handbags & Gladrags', made a hit by Chris Farlowe & Rod Stewart. 2001.

A Must for Fans!.......2006-11-01
This Mike dÀbo compilation covers records made in the perod 1964-1970; note that no Manfred Mann recordings are included.
During 1964-65 dÀbo was the lead singer of the obscure band "Band of Angels". The band released 3 singles which are included. Interesting that the first 2 a-sides are hard-rocking, not unlike the syle of early Easybeats, where as the b-side are softer Merseybeat inspired stuff. Though in ways remarkable all singles are really quite solid.
His first solo-single "See the Little People" from 1969 is the closest you get the the well-known Manfred Mann sound - a great song and along with "Californian Line" and "Handbags and Gladrags" my favourites on the CD.
His next single "Cinderella Arabella" was a very commercial thing and the b-side "Miss Me in the Morning" is actually much better.
His complete 12 tracks 1970 UNI album rounds up the compilation. A lot of it is pretty uninteresting white-soul/pop. Some of if may remind of John Paul Young though most of it never comes near the power of his best records. Two tracks stand out though; the country-inspired "Californian Line" and of his classic "Handbags and Gladrags" - a song much in the singer -songwriter tradition of people like James Taylor.
