4 out of 5 stars Fun!.......2006-09-20

I find myself listening to the Partisans more than any "Oi!" band. The reason for this is probably due to the speed, and lack of chanting. I'm not a huge fan of oi! I find a lot of it too slow. Now, the reason I can't give this 5 stars is because I'm picky. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't buy it by any means, because if you have any interest in punk music, you should at least check these guys out.

My favorite song on here is Mindless Violence. I don't know why, but I always feel like singing along to it. Even the slower songs like "I Never Needed You" and "17 Years of Hell" and of course "Partisans" find a way to keep me interested. Whenever I listen to the Partisans, I feel happy. That's the reason why I like this cd.

If you like Blitz, Angelic Upstarts, etc. or even American hardcore such as G.I. and Negative Approach, then you need to pick this up.

5 out of 5 stars IHATEPOSERS, ANTIFLAG, AND CRASS.......2005-07-26

this album is good. i am not under 13. the singer is like steve ignorant(crass, he's cool, but the band sux) and steve duties (special duties). the guitar is like many of the punk/oi! bands of their day but most similar to the uk subs. the music isn't real fast, but not real slow either. good cd.

5 out of 5 stars The Partisans are AWESOME.......2005-04-09

This is definitely one of my top 10 favorite punk bands of all time. Formed in 1979, they created great oi punk that's classic and timeless. I'm a 15 year old who's been into the Partisans along with a ton of other older punk bands for a while and I listen to this album everyday, it's just so incredible. It's also very notable that the Partisans we're teenagers when this stuff was recorded, they're the most well-known and important Welsh punk band, and they're cool as Hell. This is their earliest material, and definitely their best. They've influenced many, many bands, particularly in the oi and street punk scenes. My personal favorite songs are: Police Story, Killing Machine, I Never Needed You, Mindless Violence, Fire, Bastards in Blue. Of course all the songs are great! You've gotta get this right away if you're into or interested in getting it REAL punk rock coming from real people who live and breathe punk! If your into that new, studio manufactured, unoriginal MTV and radio-friendly "pop-punk" crap that EVERYONE likes (A SORRY EXCUSE FOR MUSIC!) then I highly doubt you'd appreciate the wonderfulness that is the Partisans. But if you're into the real stuff, they may be your next favorite band. The Partisans are very fortunately still playing today, so go see them live!
Well, what are you waiting for?! GO GET THIS ALBUM NOW!

3 out of 5 stars ACTUALLY 3& A HALF !!!(3 being the passing mark).......2005-03-25

Well I like this album but I doubt I would have bought it had I listened it first.I had only listened to a track on a Punk & Disorderly comp I guess, and thought it would be cool to listen to more material. This is a very generic ,second generation,mid-tempo punk rock cd,comprising what I guess(coz there s no way of telling from the booklet, which has NO info at all, customary with ANAGRAM)their first album and some indetermined amount of 7s.There s this repetitiveness to the the beat of the songs I would nt mind if it did nt fail to catch my attention. The singer is apparently in love with Steve Ignorant of CRASS,coz he sings exactly like he does.I know this review is gonna be crucified but I had to let it out.The Partisans are a totally overrated cult band and I find them way inferior to their contemporaries Anti Pasti or The Violators, which I m very fond of.The sound is not good and is very thin and uneven, making the first listen a very hard job of equalizing it in the tonal (esp. bass) and volume departments.I had to listen to it 3 times in a row.A good reference cd if you re a fan of this era in punk rock though. So please try to listen first, then buy.
