Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars great stuff from Larry May, Matt Odietus and Company.......2004-04-06

This is a GREAT rawk and roll record. At first the sound of the recording put me off - I was expecting more of a sound like on Human Zoo and the self-titled release before. But with repeated listens the songs really come through and i realized the sound of the recording is just different - not bad.
sleazy Highlights include the very catchy Mutants cover,'The Baby's No Good', 'Ass Casserole', 'Run You Down', 'House of Skag' and 'Give It Up'.
Cheap Dates are good for a spin too, but I bought this disc mainly for the Snatchers - Buy it, it's great!

5 out of 5 stars Candy Snatchers from 1998: You can't go wrong.......2001-03-01

This is a reissue of a 10 inch record from 1998 that has two covers by the Candy Snatchers ("This Is Rock and Roll," by The Kids, and "Baby's No Good," by The Mutants) and one CD bonus track ("Run You Down"). The Candy Snatchers are a great live band who combine the best of 70s punk (especially the Dead Boys) with a really souped up "old time" rock 'n' roll sound that isn't "rootsy" (i.e., boring) in the least. Their latest CD releases (this and Takin' A Ride) are their best yet. But their best song is still their classic concert opener "No time to Waste" from 1998's Human Zoo CD.

The Cheap Dates sound pretty close to the above description, but the difference is that they're more oriented towards the "new Southern rock"-Confederacy of Scum-Hookers thing. "Van" is a real scorcher.
