Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Intimate.......2002-09-28

I sure wish I was rich. I could keep up on the careers of guys like Ant who meant so much to me when I was younger. When this record came out I was very impressed and it still holds that charm. The Private Parts series was almost always very mellow. This record is hypnotically mellow. Best taken as a whole, the songs blend so well together. I know I shouldn't say this but it makes excellent bedroom music. In my opinion, this was the best Private Parts album.

3 out of 5 stars It has it's moments, but the inspiration is fading.......1999-10-25

I do really like a few of the tracks here, which make up almost half the CD. "Arboreteum Suite," "Eduardo," and "Sea and the Armadillo," may make it worth purchasing this, since these are great acoustic guitar instrumentals and are exciting to hear if you like guitar like I do. But you also get the Phillips-admitted improvisational tracks as well, such as "Earth Man," in which the polymoog is quaint for the first listen, but then gets real old. "Dawn Over the Lake" starts with promise then goes on for ten minutes of guitar noodling to an annoying drum kit. I won't go on, other than to say this is not a comprehensively great CD, but it has some really good material if you look for it.
