Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars I was "ready " for this album a long time ago!.......2004-06-08

Before I start this review, I have to ask this question: why doesn't this album appear as part of Eddie Money's discography when you do an Amazon search for this artist?

Lately, many bands that were successful in the 80s have been releasing new material, from Journey and Styx to Bon Jovi and Def Leppard. Eddie Money released this album 5 years ago, before these other artists came back to their senses to make good music. It was also an unpopular move considering the musical tastes that were prevalent in 1999. However, this album is like a beautiful rose among the repulsive fields of thorns that are still blossoming in the music industry!

The album is a modern throwback to Eddie's style; hard rock with just a little grit, combined with pop sensitivity. The sound is definitely classic, and the songs are very well written...almost as if Eddie never stopped writing music. The album immediately kicks off with "Ready To Rock". The song is a basic rock masterpiece, good for cruising in your car during a hot summer day. The next song is "Don't Say No Tonight". Here, you can definitely hear residual song writing from Eddie's 1985 hit "Take Me Home Tonight/Be My Baby". The songs are NOT the same, but they have similar patterns. Still, it is a classic song worthy of increasing the volume and jamming to. Other good songs consist of "Let It Go", "Need A Little Rock", "So Cold Tonight", and "Broken Down Chevy".

Besides the first two songs, there are two other fantastic rockers that are my favorites: "It's Gotta Be Love" and "When You Gonna Satisfy Me". The former song starts out with an excellent guitar riff, then blasts out in a classic rock style to make you want to dance. The latter song consists of a great opening that you would probably hear live at a concert. It then has Eddie's vocals and the lead guitar soloist playing off each other, alternating back and forth. This song has dynamic rhythm, original lyrics, and great lead guitar. A classic that should have been released on radio!

Eddie does still provide distintive elements of melodic rock and a couple of ballads with "Turn The Light Off", "Can't Go On", and "Nobody Knows." The latter song is ingenious songwriting with an inspiring message and encompasses the maturity of Eddie as a musician. Combine these classic melodic rock songs with the aforementioned superior rockers, along with exceptional production partly provided by Eddie himself, and you have the finished album of "Ready Eddie". As usual, this album was not promoted universally, but it is definitely worth searching for and purchasing. It is yet another shining example that rock 'n roll continues to progress further into the new millineum.

5 out of 5 stars It's Rockin'.......2002-05-25

Eddie really rocked hard on this disc.. Radio and the record company ignored this great release and it is a shame ! This was by far the "best" work Eddie had done in years. Eddie always mixed some filler songs on his records but his huge hits over powered the albums anyway. Ready To Rock is a great powerful track full of hooks and great guitar work by Survivor guitarist Frankie Sullivan and the shakin drumming of Kenny Aronoff! When listening to this cd there is no doubt you will remember the guitar work and the drums.. Don't Say No Tonight should have been a huge hit single when this cd came out. Pure rock with hooks and great vocals etc etc.. This track really is a incredible story and a theme.. ( one of his best written tracks of all time )! It's Gotta Be Love also is one of the best tracks on this disc ! Can't Go On is a true Eddie Money classic ballad that turns into a rockin love story ! Broken Down Chevy is a older Eddie tune that he had performed live for many years, it is a straight ahead story rocker that has great music and eddie's harmonica skills all over it.. ! i give this disc a 5 based on 5 songs that equal any material Eddie has ever written throughout his career.. The other songs are good but the ones i mentioned really are above what Eddie had done in recent recordings. Ready Eddie and Right Here are Eddie's best cds and they are both from the 1990's.

5 out of 5 stars ready to rock!!!!.......2002-01-25

the money man rocks hard on this awesome disc. 5 songs are probably the best eddie has ever sang or written. 1. ready to rock, 2.don't say no tonight. 3. it's gotts be love , 4. can't go on , 5. broken down chevy are the best! the other songs are good but the 5 mentioned are awesome and stand up to any of eddie's best songs! pure rock and roll with hooks and melody!

5 out of 5 stars high energy , plenty of hooks and feeling.......2001-11-04

every time i listen to this disc i like it more. there are a couple of pass over songs but for the most part there is a theme here and a strong vibe! some of his best work ever is on here. 8 of the 11 tracks are totally awesome! this cd was of course passed over by radio etc. this was one of the best melodic cds of 1999 along with jimi jamison's survivor. eddie should release a dvd live of some of these tunes. there are about 5 songs on here that equal or best his biggest hits!
