Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars are these guys still around?.......2006-03-19

the last entry on their website was july 2005, and a second disc was supposedly ready for release. These guys aren't as bad as I originally thought; upon repeated listenings the songs grew on me, and once you take the GenerationX,Blondie,Heartbreakers posing with a grain of salt, they're actually pretty good.I think had they not played the "let's dress like Johnny Thunders" angle, they might not have taken the potshots they did. Whatever rivalry occured between them and the Strokes is apparently long dead in the water, and either due to hype or talent, we all know who came out on top. Bazooka!!! isn't essential listening, but if you take it for what it is, it ain't bad.

4 out of 5 stars Punk + Glam = The Star Spangles.......2006-01-03

This album is the first album by punk/glam rockers, The Star Spangles. This band has the best of both worlds. They got the power chord crunch and simplistic song writing from The Ramones, The Clash, and The Sex Pistols. They got the swagger of the Rolling Stones and the guitar solos of the late 80s hair metal. Quite a combonation! Their music should be on all radio stations across the country. The songs "Which One Of The Two Of Us Is Gonna Burn This House Down" and "L.A." are the best songs on this disc. If you like the Ramones or Pretty Boy Floyd, take this trip down memory lane.

2 out of 5 stars Rubbish.......2005-04-23

This is the type of Empire Records soundtrack reject, pseudo '77 punk-rock that so vibrantly inspires all those "Rock Is Dead" songs. Everything about this project screams a deep-seeded desire to go back to a time before Reagannomics and open for the Sex Pistols or The Ramones. The problems stopping these loft-renting fashion nightmares from realizing this dream being time travel's unfeasibility and their complete lack of inspirational ability and passion aside from getting themselves laid. These songs are indistinguishable from one another. None of them have the bouncy party vibe of Franz Ferdinand nor the distinctive guitar or sonic quality attained by The Strokes. Bazooka!!!, like its namesake, is an explosive weapon of supreme annoyance that's not easy to listen to and its use should be discouraged at all times. At least if this were fun, amusing, or cool in any way, it would be temporarily justifiable but it's not any of these things even accidentally. But weapons such as this, though constitutionally protected, are morally wrong. All bazookas should be disposed of to help usher in a new age of peace and understanding.

5 out of 5 stars Great Rock-n-Roll!!!.......2004-07-22

Another reason to love NYC! They like the Stooges, Dolls, & Johnny Thunders? -Well so do I! I'm gushing over these guys cause theyre just what I've been in the mood for. Theyre playing buzzy, punky rock-n-roll and I'm totally enjoying it. I cant say they're the greatest ever, and who knows if the disc will hold up to repeated listenings over the months- but I will say that its a worthwhile investment and you should check it out. Best songs to me are "Burn This House", "L.A." and "Stay Away From Me". And as for their style-I'm glad to see a young band who got fashion right (unlike the Strokes). They got the sound AND the attitude. Personally, I think it must be very satisfying to be in this band.
