Product Description
Far from finished formed amidst teenage angst -- a group of kids coming together to escape society and indulge in debauchery, growing into men who play street rock with honesty and integrity. Steve Neary (vocals), Brian Gay (bass) and Marc Cannata (drums) moved from New York to Boston, where they met Paul Christian (guitar) and former member of the Street Dogs, Rob Guidottidi (guitar). Rob produced their demo and later joined the band. In Mid 2003, the band contacted Anti Heroes frontman / GMM Records head Mark Noah about playing his annual Beer Olympics festival in Atlanta. In addition to offering them a spot on the festival, Mark offered to release their debut CD. Brian Gay was unable to preform on this recording, so bass duties were executed by Ducky Boys front man Mark Lind. Kings Of Nothing upright bass player Spike Katz also makes an appearance on the track "The Bastard's Way". East Side of Nowhere is a modern punk rock record unlike anything heard this decade. Ten first-pumping, bobm-dropping tracks that deliver honesty and integrity in a day where crap is redily available at your local record store. Finally, an album that fights back.
Customer Reviews:
Masterpiece!.......2006-04-12
Far From Finished is the truest Punk N' Roll band from Boston, and "East Side Of Nowhere" is musically and lyrically superb in their present form. Their music delivers everything you ask for: good lyrics, melody, sing-along, awesome guitarworks, and even nice acoustic track. All songs are very catchy to make you point a finger and sing along, but still hold a toughness within: the lyrics are very real and can be related to you. Backup-singing is amazingly done, too. I think, they're one of the bands that achieved the backup chorus. There are only 10 tracks, but all are undoubtedly stellar. My favorite tracks are 9 Lives, One Lifetime, and Forgive Me Father. Another neat thing is that the CD was recorded in a very high quality (I am all into a clear sound). If you have unfortunately not yet gotton this CD, you're certainly missing something really good. Please pick up this CD before they release next soon-to-be-a-classic "Living in a Fallout." Although "East Side of Nowhere" is in particular for fans of Rancid, Swiggin Utters, Ducky Boys, Sinners and Saints, Hudson Falcons, the GC5, Dropkick Murphys, Street Dogs, Blood For Blood, etc, everyone would find this to be a masterpiece of purely rock n' roll, or punk n' roll. You will not be absolutely regretted to buy this cd!
Impressive album.......2005-05-07
Originally from NYC but now residing in the Boston, Ma area, FAR FROM FINISHED are a throwback to the SOCIAL DISTORTION days of punk except they have a killer rockabilly undertone. Not like any poser 50's band but their driving, punchy rock influenced beats will remind some of that style. Adding to this attractive feature are smooth but bouncy leads with gang choruses and a lyrical approach that capitalizes on familiar experiences of remorse, desires and embarrassment. Their music doesn't just appeal to one man, it appeals to all men (or women for that matter) who have dealt with such exhausting situations at one time or another. They are the voice for the common man and the music is the perfect accompaniment-raw, stripped down and inspiring.
