No name pulls it up a notch!.......2003-01-02
I hadn't heard of Justifide until going to a concert with Thousand Foot Krutch, Ace Troubleshooter, etc... Being a Christian, I am easily swayed by a group that pulls out all the stops to preach the Gospel. If you don't buy this CD, you must see them in concert. It's refreshing to see a Christian band that overflows with the sweet smell of Jesus in their lyrics, in their interactions on stage, and every word they say. The lyrics are loud enough that the Message is not masked by the instruments (like many other hard-core Christian bands). This CD sums up the concert experience, ten-fold. You can't help singing along to every song (even the last 2 spanish covers). If I highlighted any songs, I wouldn't do the rest of them justice because they are all awesome! Passionately singing about an abandoned mother, the trap of money, the awakening of a newborn Christian, the importance of prayer, the trouble of fighting lust, and much more.
Justifide-Life Outside to Toybox.......2002-06-14
I had never heard Justifide till I say them in concert with Skillet and Pillar, and I fell in love with their music! It grabs your attention from the opening note. They have poweful lyrics with a powerful message. Not only was the music phenomonal, but so are they. I got to talk with them, and they are fun lovin cool guys that are totally real. I reccomend this CD to someone who likes good hard christian rock with their latino roots in the mix.
Blowin' the Lid off the Toybox!.......2002-06-07
I was a skeptic. Yeah, yeah, another Christian group trying to capitalize on the success of P.O.D. (a band I do actually appreciate). But I figured, what the heck, I'll give it a try...So I ordered it through my music club, hoping, oh please oh please, that for once I'd find a group that didn't sound like another set of wannabees. Or a band with a major ax to grind with every authority figure in sight. (Not that a little grinding is bad, but the attitude can only get you so far, right?)
The CD arrived a week ago. I liked the cover art, but the insert photos seemed a little poser-ish, and, as I suspected, these guys had toured with P.O.D. in the past. That could be a good thing. Or a sign of cheap copycats. I stuck the CD in the player and within two songs, I had stopped doing other things and decided to take this music seriously. Reading through the lyrics and checkin' out the musical chops, I was impressed. Yes, it's true, they do have hints of Creed, P.O.D., and even a song that harkens back to classic Pearl Jam sounds, but overall the album refuses to fit into any one of those boxes. Instead, Justifide kicks out of the toybox and decide to be themselves. And the songs have things worth saying...or yelling, as the need may be.
This is one of my favorites now. And I can't get the disc out of my CD player!
Addictions feed from a glance.......2002-04-14
So, i decide to go see the Alien Youth tour, just for Skillet. Didn't even stay for skillet or Pillar. Justifide was the first band on stage, and as far as i'm concerned, the only band that was there and i hadn't even heard of them before. I was blown away 15 seconds into the first song, and then afterwards i met the band and they're just the greatest guys. I got the CD, and even though i'm seriously not into christian music, it hasn't left my CD player in the past 5 months or so. The CD is amazing, and their live shows are the best i've ever been to, and i've seen some amazing bands. This CD is definitely a must-have for anyone who likes to rock :)
much love
Young musicians with great lyrical maturity.......2002-01-19
I am the biggest lyric snob in the world. I love music in general, but if the lyrics don't hold up to the test of poetry to music...well, let's just say the CD won't be in my collection.
Justifide is one of those bands that caught my attention lyrically and musically. I love the hard-hitting lyrics: they tell the truth without preaching to the audience. The music is just as hard-hitting, with the lead singers voice carrying us through the whole album and the music holding its own weight as well.
As a special bonus, the two Spanish tracks at the end flow with the rest of the music, as they are versions of two songs on the album. The lyrics hold up even when translated and are well-put in both languages.
