Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Looking for new material.......2004-06-08

Although the remixes add some energy to an initial track, there is not enough material to make this a must have for me.

5 out of 5 stars Everything old is new again..........2004-03-11

Literally thought "Dance to the Underground" was a Gang of Four song the first time I heard it. Looking forward to hearing more from this group, and pleased a tv ad is good for _something_!

5 out of 5 stars Jagged Music For Jagged Times.......2003-09-02

Music has gotten so great again, I feel there is an endless supply of fantastic singles out there (again), and I'm not just being nostalgic. The nineties were notorious for lacking in really good singles, it's good to be back on track again. Radio 4 are a band that deserves all the attention they are getting. I could list about four or five bands that I think I hear when I hear Radio 4, but it's unfair to deny them credit for their own sound. Every release they have so far is really great, they don't seem to know how to make a bad song.

I have this one on 12" single (okay, maybe I am being nostalgic) and I am in love with it. Four wildly different interpretations of Dance To The Underground. I actually like The Faint's Prance Mix best for it's new wave dancefloor outerspaceness (the background sounds like something peeled off of an Erasure or New Order 12"), and then second up would be the stripped down and funkified Playgroup remix. Trevor Jackson has really stamped his trademark on this one; he boils it down to a raw, naked, basicness that is really satisfying. I thought I'd like the DFA remix best, but it happens to be the one I like least as it is too laid back and that weird, haunting Bobby McFarrin-bit at the end is just strange.
