Top flight "Indie-Rock" 4.5 Stars.......2006-04-09

Recently, my oldest daughter returned from a trip to Phoenix, and brought me a copy of Bloom. While if you knew me you would know that my taste almost always run towards female vocalist no matter what the genre of music,and the fact that The Reign Kings lead vocal is male notwithstanding, I rather enjoyed this album. First the good news, this CD has tight musicianship, great musical composition, great lyrics, and great vocals. You can tell this is a band that has worked out the kinks.
The songs rank from Great, to very good, to good. Nothing is less than good on the whole CD. The songs range from Pop to Alt-Rock.
So are there problems? Well for me, and it may sound nit- picky, the bright pop melodies didn't always match the "angst ridden" lyrics. Is that bad? Not at all, it just made it seem less than perfect for me.
But here's the deal, if you are looking for something fresh that isn't being played to death yet on the radio, Bloom should satisfy very well.
