Product Description

"Prisoner of Hope" has the reckless abandon of a Dylan record, caught on the fly and captured beautifully melding blues and Celtic influences with the open road feeling of The Grateful Dead. “April 2004 we, The Oxygen Thieves invaded the McSparren household just off the Miracle Mile, filling every available space with electric and acoustic noise makers. All the songs were recorded live…. you know… like the good old days….. fixing only the really bad bits and adding a harmony or solo once we had all agreed ( a miracle in itself) on a good take. We wanted the album to sound true and organic and so have left alone the very human aspects of jamming, the natural ambience of city traffic and bird life and of course the occasional slamming of doors and creaking of chairs. All of these songs were written for people I have met in my travels over the past year or so.” Chris Falson

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Message of Hope.......2005-07-13

all I can say is that this is just the lastest installment of fabulous songs and diverse songwriting from Chris Falson.... Rhythms of Grace and You All Along are my favorites! But I listen to the CD constantly! AWESOME!

5 out of 5 stars My Full Review.......2005-06-17

I received this CD from Chris back around Christmas. I'm not sure of my state of mind at the time but it was obviously not the right one. I put the CD aside and didn't pull it out again until about a month ago. And I'm shocked by how good it is. Raw, rootsy, full of life and hope. Recorded live in the McSparren Home just off LA's Miracle Mile, the recording quality is better than a lot of studios - with the added bonus of being authentic and real. And Chris hasn't lost his ability to craft great tunes. "Love Found Me" has caused me to tear up whilst driving - forcing me to pull over.

I chased after freedom
Until I became it's slave
I made everybody follow me
Just for freedom's sake
Love Found Me - Chris Falson ©2004 Leather Chair Songs

The Celtic flavoured "Change the World" skewers us with hope-filled truth. Lew Rusko's accordion, André Begert's mandolin work and the great harmonies delight the ears of the listener. "You All Along" is driven by one of my favourite drummers, David Raven - an autobiographical sketch of Chris's music career with great guitar from Chris and B3 from Lew. Nev L'Green is as solid as ever on bass.
Chris's "Beautiful Day" simply rocks - propelled by Dave & Chris. Chris & the Oxygen Thieves are joined by the City of Lost Angels on "The Path", the haunting completion to this fine recording.

Imbi and I have been friends of Chris & Karyn since 94 when we produced the video for Maranatha! Music's Chris Falson and the Amazing Stories project (Lew, Nev & David were on that project as well). Together, we've laughed uproariously, wept, argued and had more fun than people have a legal right to. Chris writes with passion, insight and a wry wit. If your musical tastes tend towards Mark Knopfler, Van Morrison and Sting (how's that for a combination) then you'll love this CD. I know I do.
