If you're reading this and you're a fan of British/Irish indie bands: GET THIS RECORD NOW! It's a tragedy that Pony Club are still pretty much unheard of here in the States.

"Home Truths" marked the arrival of Mark Cullen's new band, in 2002. Reminiscent of the legendary Jarvis Cocker, Cullen's song-writing genius is reflective, vivid, and brutally honest (with the uncanny effect of seeming all too familiar.) The album is a melodious and witty reflection on the despair, irony and sometimes bitter-sweet nature of our daily lives.

From a musical standpoint, the melody and arrangement of each track is classic. As is the ethereal and soulful effect of Cullen's vocals. Cullen's own musical influences are evident throughout, and include Roxy Music, Brian Wilson, Marvin Gaye, Dr. Dre, and Phil Spectre.

Behind the sublime production, catchy beats and melodies, there is a melancholy that emanates from every track in this album. Brilliant stuff. The band's third album entitled, "Post Romantic" is soon to be released. Check out their website [...] for all latest info.
