A Pet Rock Records Sampler.......2005-01-06

This CD is part of a series of budget priced CDs released by Pet Rock Records under the "Legends of Rock" line. Pet Rock Records is the music releasing arm of the King Biscuit Flower Hour and, not surprisingly, all of the tracks included here are culled from various live albums released under the King Biscuit banner.

The title of this album is a bit of a misnomer . . . yes, all of the bands/artists are British, but the term "British Invasion" is more commonly associated with the music coming out of England in the mid-1960s. The vast majority of the acts here are associated with the 1970s musical era. Your enjoyment of this CD will be in direct proportion to your likes/dislikes of the various bands presented. The recordings are generally good, though the Motorhead cut sounds like it was recorded inside a trash can. For me, the highlights were the Renaissance and Gentle Giant tracks and it was interesting to hear John Entwistle playing live without his Who bandmates.
