Highly recommended.......2007-03-01

This is a ripper of an album. The partnership of David Mitchell and David Saunders - both very different stylistically, and probably very different guys - gave the 3Ds a natural schizophrenia. Crisp and chunky. There's lightweight lyrics and charming pop melodies, mixed with loose improvisation and savage guitars. It reminds me of the Muppets band, except Animal has been moved from drums to Mitchell's guitar. He even looks a bit like Animal. The brilliant title track is a standout, but there is so much great stuff here.

The 3Ds final album Strange News from the Angels doesn't seem to be available on Amazon. That's a shame, as was the lukewarm response when it was released. It is fantastic, and David Mitchell's guitar playing had advanced to the limits of what two hands and a sick mind can achieve.

Pavement and Television fans take note.......2006-06-09

The 3ds are like Television, but heaps more fun. Their wiry fuzzed out guitar lines, warm melodies, oddball lyrics and eardrum bursting live performances made them heroes of the vibrant New Zealand alternative music scene of the late 80s and 90s. Cardigan wearing librarian bass player Denise gives a bit of vocal beauty to the deranged beast.
