Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Sweet melodies!.......2005-07-23

This wonderful album crept into my life last year. It's so understated, yet the simple beauty of the songs do not take long to grab you. The notion of tying a lyrical theme about World War II to a pop music backdrop is bravely original as well! Tracks like "Caroline, London 1940" "After the War" and "Silver in the Sun" alone makes this album better than most in the indie pop genre. Stellar...

5 out of 5 stars AWESOME!.......2005-04-24

this is the best of sleep station's cd's. its all easy to listen to soft rock. you can definately hear the influences from the beatles and even a little pink floyd. I play the songs "caroline, london 1940" and "burden to you" over and over!

4 out of 5 stars Great Album.......2004-12-28

The only real shortfall of this album is the lack of flow. For a concept album it doesn't seem to be quite as coherent as it should be. Sleep Station's Von Costel EP (available free at www.sleep-station.com) has the storyline flow that I expected from this one. Von Costel, by the way, is an amazing album - especially for free!

With that said, this is still a solid album with a nice mix of tempo throughout, and an interesting concept.

4 out of 5 stars A Great Pop Album.......2004-12-23

Wow... while listening to this I hear flashes of Beatles, early Pink Floyd, and newer stuff like Bends-era Radiohead, Matthew Sweet, and even a splash of Flaming Lips. Very enjoyable from start to finish. There is a good mix of upbeat, mid-paced, and slow songs. Wonderful intrumentation with trumpets, celesta, piano and glockenspiel. The interludes with sound effects help tie the whole story together. While this is a concept album about post WWII...it is not nearly as depressing as Pink Floyd's The Final Cut.
