Freudian Corduroy consists of 11.5 songs about sex, sadness, and emotional subterfuge -- shot through with black humour, impassioned musicianship, and a deep and abiding literacy.

ist are in the process of recording, the follow up to 2003's 'Freudian Corduroy'. The album tentatively titled 'King Martha' is due for release summer 2005, but unmixed tracks from the forthcoming album can be heard via the bands website: www.istianity.co.uk

The new album is set to be even more diverse, more eclectic than the first, using more horns, supplied by a mixture of 'The Specials', 'The beautiful South' and 'The Swinging Laurels'. and any number of old instruments like bassoon, hammond, congas, a cast iron radiator and a beer barrel wrapped in a blanket (I kid you not).

The band are also touring the UK and beyond throughout 2005 with a new line up and a real fire in there bellies. Look out for gigs and ist giveaways at a venue near you soon.

I've had this album for a few weeks now, and my favourite songs keep changing. My friends have different favourites too, although every song is heart-wrenchingly brilliant. These guys have lived through some bitter times, and they know how to tug the heart strings while still being true to themselves and rocking out! I'm not talking in a heavy kind of way - sometimes it's very subtle.

Right now, Dust is my favourite trackm when he goes
'its taken all our strength from us / to keep this sentiment from Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu uu uu uu uuuu uuuust'
near the end of the song. That's one of those moment on the album when tears fill your eyes. Other moments are Station, and This Sin, the singer's just intensely emotional and the band creates this wall of sound which is soo sad.

Cheerier moments (sort of) are Boyfriend (I hate your f*%king boyfrieeeend / Your Boyfriend is a c*^t) and Don't look at me that way - which is quite Beatles-esque.

Brilliant brilliant brilliant album, but you should have made wallpaper wendy a full song :(

A breath of fresh air.......2004-04-09

This is one of those albums that grows on you. At first it seems like a well-played, well-thought out indie album, but then you start to listen to the lyrics, the arrangements and the overall passion and you realise that ist are the next REM, U2, Elvis Costello... name your massive, intelligent and universal band here... this is a great debut album and, personally, I can't wait for the next one.

P.S. Similarly Inclined should be the first single. Anyone listening?
