4 out of 5 stars An interesting mish mash of pop, rock, and techno.......2004-09-04

Before I heard Jael on the Delerium song "After All" from "Chimera", I first heard her sing on the debut album "Ahead" by Lunik. I bought the album last year when I saw a Delerium remix on the track list so I thought it was worth checking out. And the album was worth checking out. The music is a blend of pop, rock, and techno music. I wouldn't as go as far as compare the band's music with the likes of Dido, Sarah McLachlan, or even The Cranberries. Their music are different in their own right. When I first listened to the cd, I originally thought Jael sounded a little like that (talent-challenged) Avril Lavigne but the more I listened to this cd, the less I hear the comparisons. Jael's vocals may sound at times high pitched but unlike Avril, Jael has a vocal range which matches well with the pop-tronica. I definitely prefer the remixes of "Waiting" over the original version which I found to be a bit too slow for my tastes. Still it is a good song and one of my favorite tracks on the album. The one weak track on the cd I think is the opening song "Digitally". I just don't care for when vocals are digitalized ala Cher. I think that is really cheesy. Otherwise "Ahead" is a great debut album from Lunik. I really hope to hear more from this unknown band.

4 out of 5 stars Great Pop/Rock with some Electronica/Ambient Sound.......2004-02-24

This is an Extremely pleasant album to listen to. It's very Easy on the ears. These guys are from Switzerland. Most of the songs here are very Soothing, and Most have very Catchy Melody Hooks. They combine Rock/Pop and Electronica beats with great Melodies. The Beautiful Female vocals of Jael IMO sound Great, and they give music a Very Pop-friendly feel.

Most songs really get stuck in your Head, but Not in a Bad way.

Highly recommend this album to anyone who likes Dido or Sarah McLachlan or Jewel or Cranberries etc etc, even though I think Lunik is Much Much Better. But I think it's still a Good comparison.

Also make sure to check out their First album, which is more Trip Hop than this, and also their Latest 2003 album "Weather". "Weather" is very similar to this album. It's a Very Pop oriented album.

It's Simply Great and Enjoyable Pop music with a twist.
Highly Recommended.

Thank You

4 out of 5 stars very catchy indeed.......2004-01-20

I got this album based on the guest vocals done on a delerium album. This album never approaches the darkness or quality of arrangement of that song, but it is very worthy of your purchase if you enjoy her voice. She has a very catchy voice that will be stuck in your head for weeks after listening to this album. The band is not as talented as delerium, but the music is very catchy. However, the level of "pop" here never quite approaches other Swedish counterparts such as Ace of Base or Abba. Overall, this album is fairly original. Well worth your purchase simply for the beautiful vocals.

5 out of 5 stars A New Favourite CD.......2003-11-11

Like most people, Lunik's exposure was through lead vocalist Jael's appearance on the new Delerium single, "After All". After receiving their album "Ahead" from Amazon.ca, this CD has rarely left my stereo (or the stereo at work, for that matter). It is a mix of gentle acoustic rockers backed by spacey ambient sounds. The best songs are "Static" and "Waiting". I hope the rest of their catalogue is released in North America.

4 out of 5 stars Wow.......2003-08-15

Well, erm, yes i suppose you could say she sounds like Avril Lavigne because some people are deaf. it's like my sister confusing Mandalay for Beth Hirsch, stupidity and ignorance is not a virtue dear boy.
I bought this album because of her voice on the delerium song, and Im not regretting it at all. she has an amazing voice. She has a similar command of english as Lene Marlin (Whats happened to her?) with the power of Emiliana torrini (sounding nothing like her [for fear of reprisal!]).
It's really chilled mixed subtley with a bit of Euro Cheese. (mastermind= prime example) A really good mix.
