4 out of 5 stars "She says he's writing a novel . . .".......2004-12-09

". . . I tell her, that's called smoking dope."

There are better albums, in terms of musical talent, singing ability, production value - anything you like. But it's hard to think of an album I enjoy listening to more. Angry Salad - the group was named by Queen singer Freddie Mercury - is a very charismatic band, and their cheerful alternative pop-rock is a lot of fun, with plenty of catchy hooks. Their cover of 99 Red Balloons is not to be missed, and other quality songs include "The Milkshake Song" - another single off the album - and "Stretch Armstrong," the song from which this review's title came. For a (rough) idea of the band's sound, picture a blend of Barenaked Ladies, any random seventies rock band, and a little dash of indie thrown in. Though the band broke up a few years ago, it had a rabid (but small) following, mostly developed through extensive touring. All in all, very worth a listen - you might not love it, but it's cheap, fun, and a bit quirky, and I can pretty much guarantee you'll be singing at least a few of the songs to yourself for weeks to come.

4 out of 5 stars Sorry to see them go........2004-03-23

Angry salad is a great local band. They are originally from Boston, and it was a sad day that blackbird dropped them from the label, and they went their separate ways. Several have formed other bands. I fell in love with my cd almost five years ago, and I haven't stopped listening to it yet. It has a good mix of rock, with a few softer songs, and one decent cover. I would definitely recommend this cd to anyone who is looking for something a little different.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome CD!.......2003-01-23

I got this CD because a family friend is the drummer. The first song I heard was THE MILKSHAKE SONG which I really liked. I got my friends hooked on listening to it and then they wanted the entire CD. They still keep pestering me since I forgot a few. Each song has a different vibe. I love SCARED OF HIGHWAYS and STRETCH ARMSTRONG. All in all, this CD is amazing and I recommend it to anyone who like rock. I regret to say, however, that the band has gone their separate ways. But the CD is still awesome so buy it; you'll be listening to it non-stop!

5 out of 5 stars An unbelievable sound!.......2002-04-10

While I'm not a huge fan of the name of their band (which has since disbanded and reformed as Star64), they have one of the best sounds I've heard in a long, long time. The music is very catchy with an excellent sound and a pop/rock feel, without the sap of the pop music of today. I've had their album for years and I still can listen to it from start to finish. When I play it for my friends they all perk up with interest at the music, regardless of their genre preference. It really does have a sound for everyone without being so mainstream and preachy like many stars of today. In fact, I met the band and they were all just regular guys, even letting some of the guys from our college up on stage to sing a few songs with them...very cool people.

Buy this CD and I guarantee you'll love it! There's no doubt.
