Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars these 2 create quite a synergy.......2003-04-19

the music on this cd is all sui generis, as Jim Thirlwell constantly proves his musical vision to be. The music was all composed by him, & Marc Almond's sweet voice is the vocals. They're crazy together. I think Jim Thilwell often saves some of his most eclectic music for his singles, & here is no exception. From almost-blues with gritty noise to weird minimalism, from showtunes to reconceived, redirected (& ricocheting) classical music, this is great bizarre music for the true eccentric in you.

5 out of 5 stars nobody has more range.......2001-05-09

Foetus & Marc Almond are a great combination. The synergy of their different ideas produces a real avant-garde. No one but they could have created this cd. The first track is dirty, gritty...blues, is it? Showtune gone awry? I don't know. The second is banging bsnging noise with Marc Almond's smooth voice making it perfect. Then there's some twisted blues, twisted jazz (almost, almost), some neoquasiclassical crazy music (putting labels to it are hard, you understand), & geez I don't know. The best way I can think of to try to describe what this music does is to tell you to picture a cardboard box, a dented, rusted metal trashcan, & a collection of neon & radioactive light bars all exploding out a penthouse window into a grimy, dirty dirty alley. There is also an upside-down pillow. The sky above is soft blue. The music is gentle. The music will surprise you with shards of wine bottle glass & cut off your nose to spite your face. I don't know what to do with this cd. I love it so much, maybe I should throw it out the window. Minimal, engaging, eclectic, & very eclectic, all Jim Thirlwell & Marc Almond. What a pair.
