Album Description

Echocast recently found a musical home at Smart Studios (Madison, WI), the home of prolific rock producer Butch Vig (Garbage, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins). The band's debut album, "Where the Future Ends" on XS Records is a landmark transition and fresh start for the members of the hard-rocking, heavy-touring quartet. The record was produced by the Magical Mr. Colsen ( Remy Zero,Paw, HBO's Reverb)

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Top 20.......2005-10-09

I'm a CD hog; my collection boasts over 200 artists. So when I say it makes my top 20 list, that's a pretty darned good thing. Echocast has a haunting quality I enjoy while driving home at night. The melodies are simple and lyrics confusing at times - rather artsy and abstract. I agree with another review that mentioned they lacked the musical complexity of greater bands. But there's something about them, an emotion their music evokes, that attracts me. Out of all my CDs, they're in my car visor and will stay there. I particularly like their untitled track towards the end. Had it on my Xanga for a while... Try em... I think you'll like em.

3 out of 5 stars Ordinary FUTURE........2003-12-30

These guys are decent, so is this record. It doesn't go much further than that, however. The good guitar work elevates this release beyond most hard rock acts that are lurking out there these days. Everything about this CD has earnest potential; the lyrics are good, the singing harmonized and hooky, the bass and percussion tight, but something is definitely missing. After the third or fourth track the songs seem to blend into each other, creating the kind of monotony usually found on a FUEL or COLD record. Not bad rock 'n roll, but nothing that hooks into your spine and produces chills. CATCH YOUR BREATH is the standout track and gives clues to greatness that could be achieved if ECHOCAST molded their sound into something less ordinary. With some hook and maturity the future looks bright indeed.

5 out of 5 stars Great Hard Rock.......2002-12-07

This is a solid, excellent record from a band dedicated to the craft of hard rock. Mast and Redding have matured since their earlier "Redline" work, and really connect on "Where The Future Ends". This recording was worth every cent I paid for it. Strong vocals, excellent guitar work, and a solid groove. I highly recommend this CD!

For everyone that hasn't heard this album, you really need to check it out. For their first two albums ("Redline" and "Supernova), they were known as Redline. So all the fans of Reline that wondered where they went (Like me) here they are again, under a different name.
