Album Description

"TODAY IS THE DAY is the real, zero-compromise deal." - LA WEEKLY <P>"An unstoppable force of pure, nerve-jangling terror and raw power." <P>- CLEVELAND SCENE <P>The follow-up to the harrowing Sadness Will Prevail, TODAY IS THE DAY's KISS THE PIG takes the band's punishing, abrasive sound to its far opposite extreme. Easily the most hateful, destructive, and super-fast material TODAY IS THE DAY has ever composed, KISS THE PIG is a violent depiction of life in today's America. Real and uncensored, KISS THE PIG stares you right in the face, delivering agitated agro-metal filled with feelings and emotions so black, you'll want to die.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars The Execution of America.......2006-09-07

This album is as disturbing as disturbing can be. While not as captivating as their previous schizophonic masterpiece _Sadness Will Prevail_, it is more brutal, a bloodbath of sound. Starting with the pictures in the CD alone, you receive the unequivocal message that these guys are insane with rage at the world and WILL do something about it. Pictures of Steve & Co. aiming guns from his arsenal at targets, targets including you. Worst of all, the words "Sadness Will Prevail" scarified into Steve's (?) back, dripping fresh blood.

With all these visual testaments to the real-life guns & blood in their lives, you hear the grossly morbid words and music and begin to wonder if these guys are turning cult on all of us, a blood-cult like Koresh's Branch Davidians. Read the lyrics closely and you are really no closer to the answer. This is just disturbing from the endless bottom to the endless high-end of Steve's brashly and innovatively recorded grind guitars. Oh!!! And superb blast beats. Gut-rumbling bass from Chris DeBarri a la Mastodon. And one hell of a scary death trip. Whatever psychological malfunctions any of these gentlemen have, it is a truly sobering and serious look at all the worst things in the world (especially Iraq, but you can apply to any number of world fiascoes), making it like the extreme-metal version of the schizophrenic Surrealist Antonin Artaud (inventor of the theater of cruelty). He would have approved of this sick s**t--you will, too, if you have as much tolerance for terroristic and mind-numbingly wrong-feeling sounds and words.

5 out of 5 stars Grindcore at it's best.......2005-09-27

If you are into bands such as Pig Destroyer or Dillinger Escape Plan. Get this album, Today is The Day's Kiss The Pig. It's raw material and crazed beats and unstoppable guitar riffs, this is the album to own. It's intensity drives onward after every song. The album gets better as it progresses. And completely shutting everything down and slowly revising itself with the last song birthright. No grindcore colletction is complete without this masterpiece. It's Grindcore at it's best.

3 out of 5 stars rocks hard.......2005-09-16

3 out of 5 stars I've finally heard TITD, and I like it.......2005-01-08

Ever since i read somewhere about Today is the Day being so extreme, so off-putting, so uncomfortable to listen to, i thought i had to listen to them to truly believe the hype. But up unil now i couldn't find a CD of theirs. Until I saw (finally) "Kiss the Pig", and i quickly picked it up. To say this is extreme, uncomfortable, and off-putting is a gross understatement. Today is the Day remind me of Pig Destroyer and Vital Remains put together. Brutal. And uncomfortable.

I don't know alot about the band to be honest. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing either. I think it's good in one way because at least there is a bit of mystery to the band. And i think it's bad in another way, as i can't say much about this CD, except...If you want something really uncomfortable, something pretty extreme, something pretty off-putting, some shrill vocals that sound like a mix of the guy from AC/DC and a little girl, some damn good heavy headbanging tunes...

I could go on, but if you want all that and more horrifying music that sounds like the end of the world, Buy this. It's extreme(ly uncomfortable).
