Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars solid, clever fun rock and roll.......2002-12-28

Tommy Womack has been making music for a long time, and is well-known among those who went to hear live music in the 1980s in the Nashville-Atlanta circuit for his time with the semi-legendary "Government Cheese." Always a solid live performer, no CD ever captured the energy and fun of Tommy's live performances, whether he was playing solo or backing up Lonesome Bob. All that changes with "Circus Town," a terrific CD with solid rock and roll sensibility, fun and, at times, quite insightful lyrics, and all the energy and fun of Womack's life performances. It's hard to classify any song into a particular genre, and there are times its hard to believe the guy singing is always the same person. So many of the musical influences on Womack are here -- if you grew up listening to popular music in the 70s and 80s (with the exception of disco), you will know what I mean. And yet, this isn't music from that era -- it's something entirely different. No clunkers here -- just a great sounding CD that will make you smile, make you laugh, make you think, and keep you rocking.
