Album Description

A collaborative production effort between Modest Mouse's Jeremiah Green and Plastiq Phantom's Darrin Wiener, Vells have created an album that could be mistaken for a dusted-off artifact from a timeless place and time. Tristan Marcum's otherworldly deliverance of emotive vocal detail along with the formidable drumming of Jeremiah Green is exalting. This psychedelic pop gem is a divergence from the mundane, confronting the listener with the inherent divinity of music. An impressive leap from the previous EP produced by Phil Ek, Vells have managed to fuse light and dark into a visceral musical experience that's good for the spirit. <P>Flight From Echo Falls brings you songs that combine the transcendental elements of Sigur Rós with Elvisian fervor, while others merge soul with psychedelic pop. Vells' music has been compared to the Kinks, Beatles and Shins for their melodic, hook-laden songwriting and energetic delivery. Combined with eclectic inspirations and radical visions, Flight From Echo Falls draws upon many schools of music and reaches out to a large demographic.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Good ol' pop.......2007-05-21

I was almost skeptical to buy Flight from Echo Falls considering how there weren't many places I could go to get feedback about the album. But I took a risk and it payed off. There's nothing too ground-breaking here, but if you're looking for a good, fun listen, you can't go wrong. As mentioned below you get a feel of the 60's with keyboards, a bouncy bass, and melodic vocals (I personally didn't think they were that "different" sounding) from Jeremiah Green and Tristan Mckay Marcum. It is lo-fi but not to the point where you constantly notice it, and that's how I like it. Buy it.
