Customer Reviews:
Finally, some real music !!.......2002-10-31
I was turned on to Outerstar from a friend who just said to buy the album without questions. I did and listening to the songs reminded of how music is supposed to sound. Radio, and what they're pushing, has dumbed-down the listening public; including me. Outerstar's music is cool, and has soul and heart. Most stuff on the radio sounds very similar and lacks substance. I guess this is their first album...I'm really looking forward to hearing more from them !!
A lot of fun!.......2002-04-09
In a nutshell, this CD is full of addictive pop with clever lyrics and a slightly jazzy "feel." Similar in sound to Style Council, Double, and Deep Blue Something...great for dancing alone in your apartment, to celebrate with no one around.
OuterStar - First Heard On MovieTunes.......2002-03-11
I first heard the song "You Love It When It Rains" By Outerstar on the In-Theatre Radio Network at the movie theatre I manage at. I gotta admit - It is a very catchy song - A lot of co-workers agree. That prompted me to go out and buy the whole cd. I think it is a very good cd that a lot of people will enjoy listening to.
Outerstar: New Music With a Retro Feel........2002-02-28
The first time I heard Outerstar was when I was driving in my car on a rainy night. A local radio station was playing the bands first single "You love it when it rains". The song entranced me right away. It was new music with a retro feel, that of which is highly desirable in music I listen to. I think this band is like a breath of fresh air amongst a world of music that is getting Stale. I have heard the rest of this album and each of the songs Match if not Exceed their first single. I feel this Band is going to become very popular. and Recommend this CD to anyone looking for a breath of fresh air.
step back and be refreshed.......2002-02-25
Outerstar is one of the lesser-known gems in the music world today. Their self-titled debut album is 11 poignant tracks that trace a story from the opening track "You Love It When It Rains" (first single) to the slow ballad "There's a Road" ending the album. Singer Nat Schellin has a voice that provides the perfect complement to Chris Martin's instrumentals.
"You Love It When It Rains" has an old-fashioned feeling to it. The music seems to belong in an older movie or as part of the score of a classic musical. It is a pleasant refreshment from the modern music played out on most radio stations today.
"Limousine" is my personal favorite for it's lyrics. "Living in the world don't ride like a limousine.." reflects upon the surrealism of falling in love as if it were the same kind of surrealism as living in a fantasy-fame world.
