A beautiful CD........2001-08-27
The how I came up with this CD is, in a sense, a tragic story. After I learned that the French/Austrian neo-classical project "Elend" was just that, a short-lived project, I just couldn't believe it. How was it possible that such a great configuration of musicianship was limited to just a mere trilogy? It was then, after a time, that I realized that it was better like that. After all, what we are concerned with is quality, not quantity. So I embarked myself into the realm of dark neo-classical music. I was looking for something fresh, not mere covers. This search led me to very good dark neo-classical projects, most of them difficult to find: "The Days of the Trumpet Call", "Regard Extreme", "Dawn and Dusk Entwinded", just to name a few. And Amber Asylum. I found this CD by accident when looking for something else. I had heard some very good remarks on the Asylum by a few friends who called it "Post-Rock" music, so I decided to give it a shot, and boy was a satisfied. Of course this is no Elend (What is like Elend, anyway?) but that is no problem with me. Amber Asylum has its own melancholic style and it is a very nice work of musicianship. The sad violins and cellos mixed with melancholic deep vocals and romantic guitars, a dark and beautiful sound for anyone with the heart to experience it. I still have to listen the rest of Amber Asylum's CDs, but they surely have a reserved space in my growing CD collection.
Amazing ambient darkwave !.......2000-05-07
This cd is the best ambiant darkwave I have ever heard ! The violins add perfect atmosphere to the singers beautiful voice and the subtle guitars with tons of reverb! Ohhh How I love this cd. I bought it for the song looking glass reprise, but I find myself liking every song just as much. I am normally into ambient and trance/techno music, but I can definately make an acception for this beautifully sad cd. It is Great for meditation, or for those depressing nights where you feel lonely and have to put something sad on. This cd is worth it no matter what you listen to!
A haunting masterpiece of neo-classical beauty.......1999-08-15
Kris Force's soaring voice captivates you from the first track to the last. With a decidedly unique neo-classical sound this CD is composed of not just songs, but modern ballads of haunting effect. This album is proof against those that claim classical instrumentation is boring or stale. Indeed the mix of cellos, violins, guitar, and percussion are anything but. The dark mood of this album only accentuates its beauty. All in all it is one of the best collections of modern ballads in existence.
