Customer Reviews:
NOT just a novelty item for fans of The Move.......2005-04-28
I initially purchased this CD as a sort of novelty item (i.e., I'm a fan of The Move, and I thought it'd be interesting to hear these recordings by their one time bass player). Since that time, however, I have developed an immense appreciation for this music in its own right! Ace Kefford sounds hauntingly like Stevie Winwood at times, and his music is often just as interesting as The Move's. Granted, the music is a bit dated, but that is forgiveable since it was recorded almost 40 years ago at the height of mod/psychedelic 1960s London. If you're a fan of music from that period, stop reading this review and order the CD!
great lost album.......2003-10-08
This album is divided up into two parts the unreleased album and the `previously released' tracks; Of the unreleased album tracks, this could have been a great album in the sixties, the music and production are definitely of that era, and that is not a bad thing. There are plenty of highlights, `White Mask' stands out there is a subtlety to the song which beleighs the content. The song `Infanta Marina' seems to have stuck in my head, and I love `Trouble in the Air'. A great many of these songs could have featured on a Move album without being out of place.
The Ace Kefford Stand tracks are brilliant and this band could have rivalled The Move live, there is a certain power in the songs, I would have loved to see this band live. Highlights are, For your Love (Stereo) really comes alive when the guitar solo happens nice arrangement of a song I know as a Yardbirds classic. `This World's an Apple' Groovy baby.
