The greatest and most handsome french singer!.......2005-04-06

Yes, indeed, Julien Clerc is unparallelled as a French male singer! Ever since I heard the song, "Si j'etais elle" when I was in France in 2001, I was hooked. I later found the live version of "La belle est arrive" on one of my various artists albums and listened to it over and over again. Recently I decided to take a chance and purchase "Si on chantait." And you bet I wasn't disappointed! I found much more that I liked other than "La belle est arrive." Here are my impressions:

#4: Ce n'est rien: a very catchy and timeless classic. It is full of rhythmic changes, and I enjoy it completely.
#5: Si on chantait: this is the most surprisingly fun song that I've ever heard. It makes me get up and dance, cheers me up. What a completely lively and optimistic song. In spite of all the other great songs, this is by far my favorite!
#14: Quand je joue: this is a great song with a great beat.
#18: Utile: I struggled between this song and "Si on chantait" as my favorite. And it wasn't easy to choose! This song is slow and satisfying, like a fine wine going down a well-receiving throat (and meeting an accepting liver). Ok, it's hard to express just what I'm trying to say. I like the part where he goes into his "la, la" refrain. So, I will declare this my second favorite!
#19: The belle est arrive: the song that attracted me to this album. It is truly great, but I think the live version is better.

Thus concludes my impressions on this great album. I plan to buy the following albums as well: "N 7," one of the live albums, and "Si j'etais elle." As I've said in one of my Patricia Kaas reviews, we need to increase the popularity of French artists in the United States, as they have so much (more) to offer! And Julien, if you read this: you are wonderful, and I hope to see you in concert one day! Have a great day, everyone! :-)

HIS FIRST ALBUM (1968) WAS AN INSTANT SUCCESS IN FRANCE. IT MADE HIM A STAR. I WAS ALREADY A FAN! 33 YEARS LATER HE IS STIL AS GOOD, AS ORIGINAL, AS CHARMING AND INTENSE. THIS ALBUM HAS IT ALL: THE FIRST SONGS:(LA CAVALERIE/IVANOVITCH/LA CALIFORNIE),
THE "ROMANTIC" JULIEN:( MA PREFERENCE/THIS MELODY/FAIS MOI UNE PLACE), PASSINATE:(JALOUX), OUTRADGED:(L'ASSASSIN). IT'S IMPOSSIBLE NOT TO FEEL ENERGETIC LISSENING TO "MACUMBA/QUAND JE JOUE/SI ON CHANTAIT".
JULIEN WRITES MOST OF THE MUSIC, RODA-GIL WROTE THE LYRICS FOR 13 SONGS. LISSEN WITH ATTENTION TO DABADIE'S LYRICS: THAT MAN KNOWS A LOT ABOUT LOVE!
GREAT COPULATION ALBUM. GREAT AS ALL JULIEN CLERC ALBUMS.
TAKE FRENCH LESSONS IF YOU HAVE TO! IT'S WORTH IT!
