Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Hard, but awsome!.......2005-04-10

This could be described as hardcore punk, Pipedown is very loud, sarcastic and in all ways... REALLY ANNOYING!!! But let's not kid ourselves, isn't that the point of most punk? But not annoying in a pop fasion, but in a rockin', political, loud fashion, the kind you will find yourself nodding your head to... My favorite song on this cd is Ammunition, the guitar and bass intro is one of the best! I have this song stuck in my head almost constantly! This is one of the only good modern punk bands, another modern punk band you should look into is Against Me!...

5 out of 5 stars WOW.......2004-09-03

WOW!!!! Most bands you see live are good but Pipedown is better than anything I've ever seen. I saw them w/Tsunami Bomb and I am so sad I never knew about them before. They should have been the opening act. I have nothing else to say expect they are amazing and everyone should have this cd.

5 out of 5 stars Pipedown Needs Exposure!.......2004-03-10

Pipedown is so awesome. They are the best hardcore punk band I have ever heard. They have opened for bands like Anti-Flag and Thrice, but in my opinion, those bands should have been opening for them. They are one of the best live bands I have ever seen...so in your face. Mental Weaponry is probably my favorite punk album. There is a perfect mix of your typical punk beats and hardcore screaming. The closest mainstream band I could compare them to is Rise Against, but Pipedown is a little bit harder. If this band had more exposure they would be huge because there is no denying their talent.

5 out of 5 stars Punk Lives!.......2004-03-07

I found Pipedown unappealing the first time I heard them a few years ago. I don't really know what I was thinking, but I can guess that their brand of hardcore punk just didn't sit well with me. A-F Records had a great deal where you could get 4 CDs for $32 and as I was figuring out which CDs to get, I came across Pipedown's second release. I figured I'd give them a try and I even asked the A-F mail-order guy about them. He told me that it was a phenomenal record and I decided to go out on a limb and give Pipedown another try.
I did the right thing.
Pipedown's newest is far better than their first and easily one of the best hardcore albums I've heard in a while. Their sound is absolutely amazing. While they are refreshingly original, there's still a touch of AFI and Refused. Unlike most hardcore bands, they combine their melodies with thoughtful lyrics, and sprinkle the drum beat erratically so they don't have the steady Bad Religion beat that gets so boring. They also manage to vary their sound throughout the CD without abandoning it completely and the song structure itself is far from redundant. In all, this is an amazing album that is well worth a purchase. This is what Refused hoped for when they referred to the "shape of punk to come"
