Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Frogg Cafe - Very Nice Debut Album.......2007-03-28

I head the pleasure of seeing this band live at the North East Art Rock Festival a few years ago, and really enjoy what they do. On this their debut album the band take a strong Zappa influence and mix it up with progressive rock and jam band styles, add in a little fusion and create a sound uniquely their own. They somewhat remind me of the Jam band Umphrey's McGhee only the Froggs probably lean a bit more in the progressive rock direction than Umphrey's does. This album is a mix of instrumentals and vocal tracks. The band would further develop and refine their sound on future albums, but this one shows a young band with tons of potential. Highlights include "Deltitu", "Candy Korn Parts 1 and 2", "Old Man" (the Umphrey's comparison is really strong here), and the album closer "Questions Without Answers". There is also a bonus live version of "Candy Korn" tacked on to the end as well. All in all it is a very nice debut release from the Froggs.

5 out of 5 stars These guys are hot!.......2005-02-04

Great debut album (CD) from this prog/fusion group. If you like
eclectic jazzy progressive rock, with a twist of Frank Zappa, you
are in the right place here. I love the violin - guitar interplay and the
solid (but not "mechanical") bass & drum rhythm section. As (or
almost as) good as their follow-up, "Creatures". Also worthy of high
praise is the trumpet player. Its a very strong addition to my prog collection.
Recommended.
P.S.: Check out the Frank Zappa's "Inka Roads" theme emerging on
