Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars A sound effort from these aussie rockers.......2006-09-02

This fourth album from Grinspoon is another success.
Key tracks include: Hard Act To Follow, Better Off Alone,
Hold On Me, Rising Tide and Enemy.
This is not their best album but it is very good as they were exploring new areas in their musicianship.
Even though there was alot of criticism over the softer sound, it still has it's heavy moments and memorable tracks.
The softer sound is their first step to becoming a better band with their songwriting ability. Also if they made another album that was exactly the same as their previous album "New Detention" it would just be an average "safe" album.
Grinspoon were probably aiming at a different audience with this release.
It's worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars SOLID BALL OF POP- ROCK.......2006-03-28

Fabulous collection of pop-edged honest rock from Australia. Musically I find it difficult to label them but perhaps punk-pop like The Clash but Grinspoon straddle a number of bases with ease and they have an all important element of sophistication. Really there is not one dud song on here, and they are all incredibly simple and catchy but have some thing special all the same. Perhaps in the rock world a rare commodity a band that panders not to any fashion and just focuses on the all important song. Highlights must be the title track, "Bleed You Dry" the sweet harmony of "Enemy" for balance mid way, "Better Off Alone" with Oasis/Beatledom stamped in its strong heart. Consistant chart topers in their own country I thoroughly recommended this release and indeed the entire back catalogue.

4 out of 5 stars Contemporary Soft Rock Band from Australia.......2005-10-23

This is the 2004 album release and actually my first hearing of Grinspoon having been informed from a good friend about the band. Several of the songs upon listening to them sounded familiar to me from Australian TV spots. 'Hard Act To Follow' is the most popular sought after song on Sydney pop radio, probably due to the catchy tune that repeats itself. Grinspoon is a group of 4 young Australian men from around Melbourne that have a common look and touch about them. A few more songs are worth a mention like 'Bleed You Dry', 'Better Off Alone' and 'Hideaway'.

This by no means will be my last listen to Grinspoon and this album was a decent replication of contemporary Australian sounds in the late 20th century. A must for australian soft rock fans. Also music lovers who enjoy the Hudu-Guru's should enjoy Grinspoon.

4 out of 5 stars Solid rock and roll on any continent.......2005-03-15

An Aussie friend of mine recommended this band to me on a recent trip to Australia. This became the soundtrack to my entire trip as it rarely left my IPod and still gets plenty of play today. Great hooks and guitar riffs more than make up for occasionally banal lyrics. "Bleed You Dry" and "Thrills, Kills & Sunday Pills" highlight the heavier side, and "She's Leaving Tuesday" is a great ballad. Worth trying out!

4 out of 5 stars solid but not spectacular.......2005-03-10

You most likely have heard of them because of:hard act to follow
Interesting point: founded by tripple j
