4 out of 5 stars A new sound for erentxun.......2001-08-06

This one is definitly different for erentxun while it features a more distorted sound, faster pace, a different style production. That having been said, it still is quite enjoyable. Mikel has always had a way to let the vocals carry the song and give it character. I do enjoy the faster tunes"frases mudas" and "naif" (except for the guitar solos) and "ahora se que estas" and "el cielo es del color de las hormigas" are fine as well. I think most of his fans recognise the great effort here.

5 out of 5 stars My favourite album.......2001-05-16

This album is the second one in Mikel's solo career. It was recorded in London in 1995. The musicsians are all british and the album have also the especial aparence of Miguel Bosé, one of most famous and respected artists in Spain.

It is a guitar album, a lot of electric guitars that never stop and pick you all the time, from that the title "El Abrazo del ERIZO" The hug of the hedgehod = ERIZO.(except the last track "coleccion privada" that is acoustic one.

If you don't understand spanish i recomend you to translate the lirics becouse they are great. This is my favourite album becouse of sound it have, becuse of the genious form that Mikel have to write songs and because have, also, my my favourite song "De espaldas a mí" wich is also for Mikel Erentxun the best song he have written in all his solo career.

So i recomend all to buy this record "The best Mikel Erentxun solo album".

4 out of 5 stars Solid CD, but not his best.......2000-10-07

I should foreword this by saying that I've been a big fan of Mikel Erentxun since he first started recording sometime in the mid 80s. This is the second solo album released by Mikel Erentxun (he was previously in a fairly successful Spanish band called Duncan Dhu) and gets to the US about six or seven years since it debuted in Spain. It represents quite a departure for him; his previous albums -- both solo and with his former group -- tended to be more acoustic in sound.

This album blends a lot of synthetic and computerized sounds. He recorded it in the UK, where he admitted he was very much influenced by the music of the "new British wave" (Blur, Oasis, etc). Like most of his music, it consists of very catchy and "melodic" songs that are pleasant to hear. Overall, it is a solid album and you are likely to really enjoy several of its tunes. But in my opinion, it pales somwehat in comparison to his first solo album (Naufragios) as well as his latest one (Te Dejas Ver), in which he displays the acoustic style that represents his strength as a musician. The one aspect I didn't like were his lyrics. Despite being one of his biggest fans, I must admit that Erentxun was never a great lyricist.

But listen to it, and make sure you also listen to the two albums I mentioned above. If given a chance among US audiences, he is likely to be very successful, as he already is in Spain and large parts of Latin and South America.
